Elections take place in total serenity
Since the mayoral candidates Agapito Magaña Sánchez and Alicia Concepción Ricalde Magaña are neighbors, they vote at the same location. Por Esto reports (Here) that both candidates cast their votes at 10:30am at the school “Julio Sauri”, with Agapito Magana casting his vote first, and subsequently, Alicia Ricalde  Magana, and her two daughters, voted. At the same time, mayor Hugo Sanchez Montalvo voted at the school "Cesar Mendoza".

On Sunday, large numbers of tourists flocked to the beaches of Isla Mujeres, after the families had finished voting. Hotel occupancy increased to75%, and there were about a thousand bathers at Playa Norte enjoying the hot weather, at the first weekend of the summer holiday season. Restaurants and other businesses in the tourist industry benefited, including the boat tours. Tourism is expected to increase further next week with the arrival of more foreign visitors.
