Commemoration of the Passion & Death of Christ
Conmemoran Pasión y Muerte de JesúsVer masFull article at this link

Yesterday, thousands of Catholics participated in the representation of the Passion and Death of Christ, in the midst of intense heat, with many children participating in the five-kilometer walk, from the Colonia La Gloria to the Town Square in front of the church of the Immaculate Conception. This is the 26th annual reenactment. There was some participation by tourists and by visitors from nearby locations. Many women carried parasols to mitigate the strong rays of the sun.
The procession was led by the parish priest Raúl Sánchez Alonso, in the company of the priest Rafael Weimar, who came as a guest from Rome to witness the Catholic faith in these places on the occasion of the representation of the crucifixion of our Savior.
Shortly after 11:00 am, the event began outside of the Sacred Heart of Jesus church, where the the reenactment portrayed Jesus, after his arrest, tried by the Sanhedrin of Jerusalem and sentenced by the procurator Pilate to be whipped
The next part of the narrative from the Gospels of the Bible, was portrayed at the Guadalupe Chapel in colonia Meteorológico, where the first stations were reenacted before the large group of ~3000 people, including children, went from Jesus Martinez Ross avenue, at 12:50, and then from Othón P. Blanco street to travel down Rueda Medina.
For more than an hour, a stretch of two kilometers was closed for the Viacrusis to travel, and an explanation of the stations is given. The crucifixion began at 3pm. There was a celebration of the Seven Worda, and at 7pm the Silent Procession took place through downtown, with a similar event at the Sacred Heart of Jesus church in La Gloria.
The security operation for this event reported a "saldo blanco" (no incidents) and the organizing committee thanked all the participants and the governmental support.

Pequeños hoteles con 60% de ocupación [+] Ver masFull article at this link
The vice president of the Association of Small Hotels Fascinantes of Isla Mujeres, Gerardo Magaña, confirmed while their members are experiencing a occupancy rate of 60%, the larger properties and chains on the island and in the Continental Zone  of  Punta Sam and Isla Blanca are reporting occupancy rates of 90 %.  Mr. Magaña said that from the first days of January, until this Wednesday, the occupation on average among the small hotels was 30 to 40%.
These small hotels have very accessible rates that do not exceed 800 pesos, or in some cases, and just over one thousand pesos for those in the three-star category.
The Department of Tourism is expecting to see a new record being set of 30,000 passengers in one day, according to its director Gustavo Rodriguez Orozco, who reported there has been a 'saldo blanco' (no major incidents).

Navy rescued a minor
Semar rescata a menor. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
On Thursday afternoon, the Navy rescued a minor at North Beach "who had been dragged by the waves while she was doing water activities. Her relatives requested help from Naval personnel because the minor was dragged by the waves and current out toward the sea, so the lifeguard personnel of the Mexican Navy immediately went to her and helped, saving her life.
The lifeguards explained that this type of event occurs when some parents go outside the boundary of the buoys that protect the swimmers, where the current becomes strong. A Civil Protection lifeguard said, "Even though we explain this to people, they tend to ignore the recommendation."
With this incident, the Navy has rescued 30 swimmers on the beaches of Cancun, Puerto Juarez, and Isla Mujeres, in coordination with Civil Protection and other security personnel (during the Easter holidays).
Emergency phone numbers are given, and email contact information.
