A traffic operation was implemented to detect vehicles lacking current plates and drivers lacking proper documentation, with police officers changing locations intermittently. It is estimated that since Monday, 150 violations were issued for lack of drivers license or current plates, as well as the tarjeta de circulación ("card of circulation"..registration?).
The municipal director of the Traffic police, Jairo Chevez Juan said as of Friday, they had cited more than 120 offenses,  with an average of about 30 per day. Therefore it is estimated that by Saturday, today, there have been ~150 violations. More than 35 vehicles were taken to the municipal impound yard for lack of plates or the driver lacked a drivers license. Six vehicles went to the impound yard because they were abandoned in the streets. Most of the vehicles in the impound yard are being held as collateral until the fines are paid.
For vehicles with out of date plates, the police are aware that there is a delay between paying for plates and obtaining them, and they expect those drivers to show their payment receipt.  During this operation, in addition to documents of the drivers and vehicles, they are checking lights.

Delay in payment of Father's Day bonuses

Bonuses for Father's Day for municipal workers who are in the union are from 400 to 500 pesos, however payment is being delayed by one week. Bonuses for Bureaucrat Day, on the June 12th, were less that last year, and were not given on time. Por Esto is of the opinion that the union leader is too submissive to the officials in Human Resources.

Pollution at Salina Grande
Vuelve la contaminación a la Salina Grande[+] Ver mas

Although the municipal departments have been removing a large amount of trash from the area of Salina Grande, it continues to be subjected to littering. There are neighbors who dump trash, as well as people who come to visit the area at night who drink beer and litter. The Department of Ecology have conducted clean ups and planned to place signs asking for cooperation and warning those who pollute, but the signs have not appeared and the problem has worsened. People who exercise or use the area for recreation, as well as the neighbors, are requesting more surveillance from police.
