    During the Third National Pueblos Magicos Fair, Mayor Juan Carrillo received a prize for Isla Mujeres for being the first Pueblo Magico town to complete the Cadena Productiva, Plan of Production. Isla Mujeres was the first among 111 Pueblos Magicos to receive this award, which was delivered by the federal Minister of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero.
   The Mayor said one of its commitments as a leader is to promote the tourism industry through innovative strategies that allow visitors a unique experience, with quality services, for which it is important to maintain a coordinated effort with the three levels of government through the corresponding authorities.
    He said he is committed to this work based on three fronts:  Improving the quality of tourism products and services through innovation to attract more visitors and generate more jobs; boosting the promotion and marketing of the Isla Mujeres Pueblo Magico  'brand'; and finally, the identification of the highest priorities to strengthen in the municipality's involvement in the management Program for Regional Sustainable Tourism Development and Magic Towns (Prodermagico).

A pair of lambs were turned over to the Department of Ecology and the Environment for their protection in Isla Mujeres. On social networks, a request was made for the authorities of Department Ecology and the Environment to take care of two lambs that were transported in a risky manner. The authorities responded to the call and met those who were responsible for the transfer, who turned over the animals voluntarily. The lambs were sheltered for their protection with no further damage.

La tarde de este viernes en la ciudadanía, por medio de las redes sociales, hizo un llamado a las autoridades de Ecología y Medio Ambiente para que se hicieran cargo de un par de corderos que eran trasladados desde Cancún a Isla Mujeres de manera arriesgada.
Inmediatamente, las autoridades atendieron el llamado y dieron con los responsables del traslado. Los sujetos procedieron a entregar a los animales de manera voluntaria.
Los corderos fueron resguardados para su protección sin presentar mayores daños.

  The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection has initiated legal proceedings against the owners and captains of the boate "II Masssimo" and "Bisho" for anchoring and spending time insice the   Parque Nacional Arrecife Alacranes (PNAA) in the state of Yucatan. This is prohibited and can result in a fine from 50 to 50,000 Measurement Units (A MU equals the Daily Minimum Wage of 72 pesos or about $4usd).  The PNAA was declared protected in 1996 as an important nesting and resting area for seabirds crossing the Gulf of Mexico, with a large amount of biological richness. Tourist and recreation activities are not allowed there.

Walk less than 10 minutes southwest to shop at Chedraui or to dine at Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, or other options. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. The 9th annual Diabetes Clinic will be November 3rd in La Gloria. We are a team of nurses, social workers, EMT's and paramedics with a doctor for consultation of patients who need to be seen immediately. Please consider donating $50 which would buy 200 test strips, enough for one patient for a year. We also need donations of reading glasses, particularly the higher numbers. Many diabetics have vision problems too. We have a drop off location at Marina Paraiso Hotel or will pick up wherever you are!  To all Islenos: We invite you to the Diabetes Clinic sponsored by the Club Pro-Paciente Diabetico A.C. at the Community Hospital in La Gloria on Thursday, November 3, at 9:00 AM. Health care professionals will test your blood, offer diabetes education and distribute meters and strips and other supplies for people with Diabetes. We will teach you how to use the equipment so that you can manage your illness of diabetes better.
