Part of the wall around the Isla Mujeres Municipal Cemetery downtown collapsed, due to the rain. Full article & photo at this link   Video at this FB link.
TVIsla Mujeres - Se desploma parte del muro en el Cementerio Municipal en Isla Mujeres

This TVIM article says neighbors of the downtown municipal cemetery were awoken by a loud noise a little after 5am, and thought it was a traffic accident, but they went outside to find a section of the cemetery wall had collapsed. This is thought to be due to its age, encroachment by an old tree, and the rain. Public Services were notified at 5:20 and began cordoning off the area & cleaning up. They intend to act promptly to repair the wall, after they investigate whether the whole wall needs replacement, and if are there any other areas at risk of falling.
The cemetery was founded in 1850, and the local historian estimates the wall was built in 1915.

TVIsla Mujeres - Sintra remite al corralón a cinco camiones por no contar con su documentación en regla
SINTRA (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport) representative in Isla Mujeres, Jorge Miguel Martin Alvarez, confirmed that five passenger buses were impounded for lack of proper documentation. They are used to transport passengers in the Continental Zone, but they lack a concession for this type of service, so they were "invited" to drive the vehicles to the impound yard. Two drove to the yard and three started to escape, but within a short time, they were all in the impound yard. Sr. Martin Alvarez explained that they have federal plates, but they are working on state roads, which requires a special permit. A fine may be imposed, in addition to being impounded. They are five colectivo buses of 45 passengers each, owned by FESOC. In less than ten days, more than 25 vehicles have been impounded, including six Uber vehicles, 10 golf carts, and a dump truck (un volquete), among others.

Segunda jornada de limpieza urbana+] Ver masFull article at this link
Mayor Juan Carrillo led the second Clean Up event, which took place in colonia La Gloria, which included pruning brush and trees in public spaces and collecting junk from the neighbors that the trash truck doesn't take. This makes the island look better and curbs mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, chikungunya, and zika. About nine tons of junk was collected and hauled away.
The arrival of the second (larger) ferry is expected by the end of this month, after receiving maintenance in Ciudad del Carmen, and then the process can begin to clear out the Trash Transfer facility, where there has been an accumulation of about 1000 tons of trash for several months, according to the Public Services Department.

Proposal to relocate health services
Prevén trasladado del sector salud .. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
A proposal has been signed by a number of social and business organizations requesting that the IMSS (Clinic for Social Security beneficiaries), ISSSTE (Clinic for State Employee Insurance beneficiaries), and the Military Hospital be relocated to the new Community Hospital, to ensure medical services for workers and the general public, according to Enrique Lima, a promoter of the proposal. This document was signed on August 25, 2015, by hoteliers, restaurateurs, merchants, and leaders of touristic cooperatives and the fishing cooperatives, on the eve of the opening of the hospital. They received no response, and now want to propose the idea again, to the new government.
The document says they would like to have a collaboration agreement between the Seguro Social, ISSSTE, Navy, and State Health Department to concentrate them together in the new hospital to provide ongoing medical care by a pediatrician, a gynecologist, an internist, a therapist, a surgeon, an anesthetist and two general practitioners.
It notes that the hospital in Isla Mujeres was the first of its kind in what are now the municipalities of Lazaro Cardenas, Benito Juarez, and Isla Mujeres (under the fourth delegation of government of what was then the Territory of Quintana Roo. It requests that the name be retained of Lic. Jose de Jesus Guitierrez Lima and that the commemorative plaque be relocated to the new hospital from the old facility downtown.
Last evening, the business sector had its first meeting with Mayor Juan Carrillo to address various issues including image, security, and improving services to facilitate more visitors to chose Isla Mujeres as an overnight destination.
