Seventeen years after his death, today authorities posted an honor guard at the statue to Ramon Bravo Prieto.  (He was an Olympic athlete, underwater photographer & film maker, author & journalist, conservationist, and he worked with Jacques Cousteau when Jacques visited & filmed in this area.)

 Payments were made in support of senior citizens on Friday from the program for Adults 65 & over,  by Fabian Vallado Fernández, federal delegate with the Dept of Social Development, and Angel Rivero Palomo, Secretary of Development of Rural, Agriculture, and Indigenous of Quintana Roo, and the Mayor Agapito Magana Sanchez.
Con la presencia de Fabian Vallado Fernández, delegado federal de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Social (SEDESOL) y de Angel Rivero Palomo, secretario de Desarrollo Agropecuario, Rural e Indígena de Quintana Roo, el presidente municipal Agapito Magaña Sánchez, encabezó la instalación de la mesa de atención y entrega de apoyos a los adultos mayores.
Cumpliendo con el calendario establecido, este viernes, en el municipio de Isla Mujeres se llevó a cabo el pago del Programa Pensión para Adultos Mayores, 65 y más.

The public is invited to have acrylic nails applied at the Women's Institute for 50 pesos on Mon, Wed, Fri and 9am or Tues & Thrus at 5pm.

The Second municipal contes for Escoltas 2015 was held with the grade schools and middle school participating. (I'm not sure what the word is in English for this type of marching group.)
Con la participación de escuelas primarias y secundarias de Isla Mujeres, se llevó a cabo el Segundo Concurso Municipal de Escoltas 2015.
El Concurso Municipal de Escoltas 2015, pretende inculcar el sentido de pertenencia hacia su escuela entre los estudiantes de primaria y secundaria.

The Small Hotels Fascinantes Association of Isla Mujeres recognized dozens of tourists who have been frequent visitors to this destination in recent decades. 35 couples were given certificates as were an equal number of individuals.
La Asociación de Pequeños Hoteles Fascinantes de Isla Mujeres reconoció a decenas de turistas frecuentes que visitan al destino durante las últimas décadas. Se entregaron certificados a 35 parejas e igual número de manera individual.

Javier Martinez Cen La Banda Sin Nombre has played for 12 years at Faynes, we needed some days off, so less than a year a go, we let the band Radios play for us (at the same stage same time), they are great! LBSN play Weds/Saturday from 10:30 till 12, Fridays and Saturdays we also play next door, at Adelitas, just salsa music, from 12:39 till 2:00  (I'm not sure if this is still current

. For the next month we'll be synced with EST,  until March 8, when the US goes onto DST (and we don't). Then for ~8 months we are in sync w Central Time in the US, since we will no longer be changing back & forth with Daylight Savings Time. (DST is March 8-Nov.1 in the US, and April 5-Oct. 25 in Mexico.)           
        We're only synced with EST  in the US ~4 mos/yr from Nov 1-March 8.     
         To permanently adjust your clocks, you can chose a location like Panama that stays on EST without changing to DST

 Monday, February 2 no school/day off for February 5th Constitution Day. (And if you got the baby in your rosca on Kings Day, you're hosting a tamale party on 2/2.Candlemas)

February 2-8 Island Time Fishing Tournament -- a week of music and fishing to benefit the Little Yellow School House.


Thursday February 12th will be the Navy Wives Breakfast at 9:00 am at Club Naval in Centro. The proceeds go to the Navy Hospital. This month the theme is Valentine's Day, and the tickets will be 120 pesos. This breakfast is really more like lunch, and we should be meeting the wife of the new commandant.
