Goodbye to polarized glass on taxis

New provision explained to the operators

Líder de chafiretes da a conocer nueva disposición: Operativos

Lanrry PARRA
ISLA MUJERES, 25 de febrero.-
The ~550 taxis operating in the municipality of Isla Mujeres, on the mainland and the island, will have to abide by a new regulation requiring the removal of polarized glass for automobiles in public service. This is a safety recommendation of the Federal Police and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and will be enforced by the municipal Traffic Police. The vehicles are allowed to have factory installed privacy glass, which is mostly found on rear windows.
The leader for the Frente Unico de Trabajadores del Volante del Estado (United Front for Working Drivers of the State..FUTV) said there will be checkpoints at different parts of the city of Cancun, to stop vehicles when they are not carrying passengers. In the taxi unions, there are over 7000 vehicles with some degree of polarized glass on their vehicles, who were notified to remove the dark polarization, with 'vouchers' for payments from the union.  fueron notificados sobre el retiro de las micas oscuras a través de los “vouchers” de pagos que realizan al gremio.
"The units must remove the polarization according to safety recommendations from the Federal Police and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport," said the secretary general FUTV. "For the safety of tourists and users in general, and with the intention of preventing crime, there will be zero tolerance for units with tinted windows".
The 142 taxis on the island of Isla Mujeres must abide by this regulation, as well as the ~400 taxis in the in Continental Zone of the municipality.

Complaints continue from some patients with chronic diseases like diabetes or hypertension concerning shortages that occur at the hospital pharmacy, where they are beneficiaries.
There was a meeting between the interim administrator, Jose Alberto Cortazar, the staff, the director Dr. David Valenzo, and a union representative.  They discussed use of the time clock, and complaints about its possible manipulation,  vs signing in with a log book, as well as the consequences of tardiness. It is noted that there are personnel, including specialist doctors, who have left the hospital due to delays in being paid, and there are times when there is no gynecologist or pediatrician for days.
