Agapito atiende personalmente a 25 ciudadanos y resuelve sus demandas

Lanrry Parra
ISLA MUJERES, 28 de enero.-
The fourth public meeting, held at the City Council room, was attended by 25 people who had previously requested a dialogue with the mayor. The mayor sat quietly and listened intently. He responded to the issue of people frequently asking for employment with the City, saying his administration cannot make the same mistake made by the previous two administrations. He said the city payroll will not be saturated, causing them to go into the red, and neglect vital issues such as paving, lighting, garbage pick up, public security, and other needs of the population.
Instead, he proposed a job package where there are 100 jobs on the Island and 400 jobs in the Continental Zone, and they are offering assistance to those who cross, to save money on the daily passage.
Director of various City departments were at the meeting to respond to the residents and give solutions to their concerns.
It is important to inform you that a suggestion box has been installed at the main entrance to the City Hall, for citizen concerns.

Noisy bar disturbs downtown
Ruidero de bar perturba al centro Ver mas

Hotel owners are complaining about noise from the live music played at the bar "La Terraza" on Hidalgo Avenue at the intersection of Abasolo. It was determined that their noise levels were above 70 decibels, but they have complied. The maximum permitted level is 60 decibels.
The manager of the nearby hotel Marcianito, says they have had six cancellations so far this season, and have been a victim of bad reviews on the internet, because of noise, which the manager says this is unfair because it is due to the inaction of  officials. The hotel Los Arcos has also suffered bad reviews, and staff from other hotels say that guests have been complaining at Los Almendros, Caracol, and Hul-Ha, among others.
One commenter said it was childish of the head of the city Ecology department to tell the press that hotels should reduce the noise that enters their establishments, "When in fact, the authorities should be enforcing the regulations in the streets to punish the perpetrator of the noise that is affecting tourism."
Despite having reduced the decibel levels, this measure has not been sufficient because the sounds still come into the bedrooms with plenty of force, which is evident from several reviews at www.tripadvisor.com.mx, where one person writes "It (the Marcianito) is a good hotel, but noisy," and another says, "It seems like you are sleeping inside the bars." Los Arcos has similar comments, and in the case of the other establishments, there are also customers who have made complaints. Mexican Edgar Baltazar Tuiz Lopez wrote that the noise continued past midnight, upset him, and he suggested that the noise pollution should be monitored and controlled.
