As summer vacation period begins, the Harbor Master of the Port of Isla Mujeres is starting the process of visiting the cooperatives who provide tours to tourists to verify that the boats have safety equipment in good condition. So far they have renewed 300 safety certificates of the 800 registered on the island. The lifetime of a life jacket is five to ten years, depending on the brand and material. The extinguishers are annual, and the flares have an average life of five years. Other required equipment includes life jackets &life- buoys (Chalecos y aros salvavidas), a first aid kit, and a VHF radio.

Caribe On Canvas Early morning view of Hidalgo while having breakfast at Amigos. Amigos is one of our favorite breakfast spots, plus it's fun to watch Hidalgo come alive in the morning.
MMMM love breakfast at Amigo's! I always order the Popeye's omelet and mispronounce it Every Time. Breakfast IS a great time to be on Hidalgo, before it gets hot or busy, watching the shops open & the deliveries being made & the contrasts between the cheery Morning People and the quieter Hungover Folks.~wc

The Early Edition has headlines & newspaper photographs.
This Afternoon/Final Edition has translated articles, events, & original photos with the "Around the Internet in the Past 24 Hours" section.
Both blogs always have links to the original articles.
Usually if  there is a headline, but no translation,  it was probably published in another paper recently, and the information was translated.in a previous post, usually in the past couple days.

  1. There is no way hotel occupancy will be at 90% in August. Where do they come up with those numbers? We come to Isla every summer in either July or August and it's always so quiet. Leo
