Officials with the municipal Urban Development Department placed closure seals on the construction site north of Colegio Bachilleres on the Caribbean coastal road, because their documents are not in order. On the notification posted on one of the gates to the site, it says there are violations of several articles of the Urban Development regulations because of a lack of corresponding permits.
Although this work was authorized under the previous administration, there have been concerns expressed about its proximity to the airfield, and the destruction of protected plants such as mangroves.

Tourism piers in poor shape
Muelles turísticos en mal estado.. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
It was reported that an announcement will be made on Friday by APIQRoo (state Port Authority) regarding the wooden pier that served as a gateway to Isla Mujeres from Puerto Juarez, which is in need of maintenance. This former Magana Ferry pier has been out of use for 15 months.
During the last administration, plans were announced to reinforce the pier and build a museum on it. The dock has shown signs of weakening, and currently is not suitable to receive tourists. There has also been a proposal to use it for small boats and sailboats.
There are two private piers that are also in need of maintenance, with the most deteriorated being located at the beach where there is a dispute between 'presumed state officials' and the Cardenas family. The other pier in need of attention is located a few meters south of that one, where boats of deeper draft were moored, until the sands shifted. Access to the dock is blocked, but there are concerns about people who enter when the lifeguards or others aren't on duty, and could be harmed by exposed nails or loose boards.
