PALAPA FIRE CONTROLLED IN  ISLA MUJERES
Around 2:30p today, personnel with the municipal departments of Public Safety, Traffic, Civil Protection, and the Fire Department put out a fire in the palapa of the restaurant
"Chabad Isla Mujeres", located on Hidalgo Avenue. The municipal workers said the fire was caused by people smoking near the palapa, however, due to the rapid response the fire was controlled with 2000 liters of  water. The fire fighters said that fortunately it was only a small fire, which was quickly controlled, with only slight damage to the palapa.

Fishing Tournament postponed again
The City of Isla Mujeres, headed by municipal president, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, through the Organizing Committee of the International Sport Fishing Tournament "Cosme Alberto Martínez Magaña", informs the general public and the participants that this sporting event has been postponed again.        The Director of Economic Development, Leonel Povedano Castillo, explained that this is because the forecasts of the Harbor Master of Isla Mujeres indicate the arrival of a tropical depression in the Yucatan Peninsula.         Therefore, the Tournament Organizing Committee, concerned about the safety of the participants and their boats, decided to postpone it until the weekend of June 24 and 25, thanks to the support of the  Tulum Fishing Committee, who made the date available.        The City of Isla Mujeres encourages fishing enthusiasts and the general public to attend and participate in the International Fishing Tournament "Cosme Albeto Martinez Magaña". Registration remains open until the tournament starts.

COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONY FOR NATIONAL NAVY DAY      The City of Isla Mujeres, headed by the municipal president, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, held a commemorative ceremony for National Navy Day at the facilities of the Fifth Naval Region, located on the island.     This important date commemorates the nationalization of the Mexican Navy one hundred years ago. on June 1, 1917, when article 32 of the Constitution went into effect.. On that day, the merchant ship "Tabasco" sailed from the port of Veracruz with a crew consisting entirely of Mexicans, and traveled to Progreso, Yucatán.
Names of officials & important people in attendance are given.

Like every year, today we commemorate the day of the National Navy, a tribute to those dedicated to service to the nation
