There was good attendance and participation by residents of colonia Salina Chica when the Mayor brought the agency directors to meet with the citizens, and to respond to their concerns in the second meeting of his program "Conversations with the Community" (“Diálogos con la Comunidad”).
The citizens expressed approval of the Mayor's new program "Regidor en tu colonia" / A Councilman in your village. For Salina Chica, the Council member is  Adriana Trejo González.
These initiatives are part of the transparent and efficient government that the Mayor promised during his campaign. In his first month in office, he has held numerous meetings with state governmental agencies to facilitate a package of public works for 2014, and is considering the requests of the community.

Lanrry PARRA
ISLA MUJERES, 6 de noviembre.- The intermittent rainfall was not good for tourism, and affected islanders who were on scooters, and there was some minor flooding. The puddling accumulated near the construction of the new ferry terminal and the monument to the fishermen. Workers made efforts to clear the drain near the construction which their work had blocked, and the problem near the monument to the fishermen is the responsibility of the Civil Protection agency..

Municipal market languishes
Mercado municipal languidece] Ver mas
The tenants of the downtown mercado, "Javier Rojo Gomez" (on the back street Guerrero, near the Post Office) would like the market renovated, to attract tourists. They say it lacks promotion and signage, therefore many people do not know where it is located. They are hoping municipal authorities will support them in these requests, noting that this is a traditional site, and many families are dependent on their sales there. Additional problems for the merchants at this location include the national economic crisis and that this is low season.

Tourism activities enjoyed in the afternoon
Disfrutaron las actividades turísticas por la tarde] Ver mas
Although there was a surprising rain at dawn, by noon tourists were enjoying the activities of the island in the improved weather. The heavy morning rains affected the departures of the fishermen and of the nautical tour providers. The weather was markedly improved at noon, and tourists came to enjoy their holidays at the beaches, downtown, and around the island. Tourists were visiting the monuments, Punta Sur, and the eastern malecon, as well as taking pictures to remember their visit. (In the photo is the western malecon, and the monument to the whale shark, which are very popular for taking photographs.)

Golf carts, the best way to explore the island
Carritos de golf, la mejor manera de conocer la isla [+] Ver mas

PE says golf carts are a popular and economical way to tour the island, with rates at 180 pesos/hour, 500 pesos for a day, and 600 pesos for 24 hours. An unamed vendor says there are some opportunists who may charge 20 or 30 percent more. It is noted that demand for the golf carts has a significant impact on the taxi drivers, who are mostly transporting locals. This negative economic impact makes it difficult for the taxi drivers to pay their fees to the owners.

TODAY>>> Weather permitting...Check this LINK for updates....is the Isla Mujeres November Artist Fair! We hope everyone that is on the Island will come on down to the Zocalo from 4 to 7pm to support 40 incredibly talented people from our community! We also want to give a huge thank you to Corona who has agreed to supply our tables & chairs each month. For anyone who has been involved in the Fair, you know how challenging this has been. With Corona's help we can have an unlimited amount of artists come high season! This is awesome for the Fair & the Island! Come celebrate art with us!

Our first arrival of donated books for Heather Jones' 1st graders! Thank you so much Joy Kelly!!!

Heather's efforts in the public school system is so important. With tourism being our major industry, it is so beneficial for the Isla locals to learn & speak English. Most businesses will pay employees a higher daily wage if they speak English. This is huge for families. Many locals support more than just themselves. It is not uncommon for the person with the best & highest paying job to support not only their husband/wife & children but their parents or siblings as well. Giving them the gift of English allows them so many more opportunities. I so appreciate all the emails & private messages about bringing books!! Your small donation will make a big difference in our community & in the lives of each child's families. Thank you so very much.
