Today we successfully concluded the Summer Recreational Sports Program BaaxLo'ob PaalaLo'ob ⚽️🏀
Many thanks to all the parents for having motivated their children to enjoy this formidable experience. From July 24 to August 11, more than 50 children between 6 and 14 years of age participated, enjoying sports, recreational and educational activities such as basketball, handball, tae kwon do, soccer and other physical activities. As part of the learning process, the children were educated about environmental issues, first aid, use of fire extinguishers and recycling.
The director of the Institute of Sports and Municipal Recreation thanked the Mayor for supporting this program, and he expressed his appreciation to the parents. Names of officials at the closing ceremony are given.

With the objective of taking care of the health of all island families and keeping the island clean and free of vector-borne diseases, the City of Isla Mujeres, headed by municipal president Juan Carrillo Soberanis, continues with the Junk Removal Program on the island. The mayor thanked the staff of the Municipal Public Services Department for their efforts removing junk around the island and encouraged residents to participate in keeping the island clean.
The Mayor said, "It is very important in this rainy season to maintain a collective effort between the government and the community, so that our streets and homes are free of the mosquitoes that transmit dengue, zika and chikungunya; We will continue to bring these programs to all the colonias, both on the island and in the Continental Zone for the benefit of all the islanders."
The Director of Municipal Public Services, José Ríos Chalé, explained that the Junk Removal Program is taking place on the island, where it began a few weeks ago, in colonia "El Cañotal", followed by colonia "La Gloria ", and will continue in" Ampliación La Gloria ".
"We thought that after Tropical Storm 'Franklin' the streets were going to be full of junk, however, we thank all the islanders for participating in this activity and helping us improve the cleanliness and image of the island, for the benefit of everyone, "said the official.

Less than 48 hours after a fine of more than 300,000 pesos was imposed on the Integral Port Authority of Quintana Roo (APIQRoo), for works in the maritime terminal of Puerto Juarez, this morning, the Federal Office of Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) who had imposed the the fine, removed the closure seals.
Alicia Ricalde Magaña, director general of APIQRoo, explained that PROFEPA removed the closure derived from resolution #0211/2017, after the company (agency?) committed to carrying out a study of the impact that was caused by the work that was closed, as well as to commute the fine of more than 300 thousand pesos with an ecological project for the benefit of the people of Quintana Roo.
She pointed out that during the ten months she has been the general direction of APIQRoo, no work has been done at the Puerto Juarez terminal. She said, "The works that were closed down were done during the last administration and other construction dates back decades." She said that the present administration is committed to working in strict adherence to the law and to respecting the environment. In addition, she noted that Puerto Juárez is one of the main tourist attractions in the municipality. (Puerto Juarez in is the municipality of Benito Juarez, with Cancun).
She said that this option also stems from the interest of Governor Carlos Joaquin González in protecting the natural resources of the state for the benefit of the population and which forms one of the guiding principles of the current administration. The last week has begun of summer holidays, when this vacation destination has a high influx of visitors, exceeding 10,000 daily, arriving via ferries and recreational boats. There has been a 'saldo blanco' (no serious incidents) and the Tourism Department maintains good coordination with other governmental agencies to provide security and attention to the visitor. There have been no incidents involving the whale shark tours, who have about five more weeks to their season which ends on September 17.
An Ultramar employee reports that their seat capacity is at an average of 90 percent from Puerto Juarez, and Maritima Isla Mujeres reports similar statistics from Punta Sam. There are about 60 boats that depart from the marinas and terminals in the Hotel Zone that add to this activity, as well as the boats that bring passengers from Puerto Juarez daily.

Ana Carolina Magaña Lemus, a young native of Isla Mujeres, became a champion in the Latin America table tennis competition in the "U15" category, after winning the tournament in Guatemala, confirmed a representative of the Mexican team.
As a member of the Mexican national team, she was a key player in winning the Latin American championship, in which she eliminated Chile during the semifinals and Puerto Rico in the final competition. She shared a photo of the team which shows her and her teammates, Daniela Muños, Marbella Aceves and Clio Bares, and their coach, Luis Basurto as well as the prize won by this outstanding athlete from Isla Mujeres. She has various national and international titles under her belt, won individually and with the Mexican national team.
She and her teammates will represent Mexico in the upcoming Latin American Olympiad.
