To maintain the island as a world-class tourist destination, reflected in its clean streets and by the quality of its public services, the municipal government is committed to the citizenry and to investing in equipment to ensure coverage for all the colonias and neighborhoods of this municipality.
José Guadalupe Ríos Chalet, Director of Public Services, explained that at the start of this administration there were only two garbage trucks. Now, because of efforts by the Mayor, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, three more vehicles have been activated on the island, and two more in the Continental Zone. This helps to keep the streets clean and  makes trash collection more efficient.
He said they are continuing to work on cleaning out the Trash Transfer Facility, which is expected to be completed in 20 days. They have removed more than 4000 tons of trash . The Public Services Department has repaired more than 200 street lights on the island and another 100 in the Continental Zone, to ensure that families have illuminated parks, avenues, and streets.

Port remains closed for small boats
Navegación seguirá cerrada . [+] Ver masFull article at this link
Due to winds gusting up to 50 km/hr, the port of Isla Mujeres was closed for navigation by small boats, although nautical activities were allowed at El Farito and the lagoon area, according to the Harbor Master, Miguel Ismael Gonzalez Gil.
Although it was cool when the day began, tourists were arriving on the catamarans and other passenger boats over 40 feet which routinely bring visitors from the Cancun Hotel Zone. They enjoyed the main beaches of the island, but few went for a swim.
The Harbor Master explained that on Sunday the boats under 40 feet were totally restricted, but on Monday and Tuesday nautical activities were allowed to El Farito and the lagoon, exclusively. He said there were winds from the east at 35 to 45 km/her with gusts up to 50 km/hr, and forecasts are predicting similar weather throughout the week. The winds are expected to begin decreasing gradually on Sunday.
He estimates that the port could continue be closed throughout the week for boats under 40 feet, but the tourist boats may be able to operate at El Farito and the lagoon. These restrictions may be lifted on Tuesday, but everything depends on the weather conditions.
He noted that cold front #21 also brought decreased temperatures, at 20C in the early morning, and daytime temperatures reaching 26C  (from 68F to 79F)

Merchants adjust prices
Comerciantes ajustan precios [+] Ver masFull article at this link
A business owner in La Gloria reports that soft drinks of 2.5 liters and 3.5 liters have increased in price by a peso, which is believed to be due to the increase in gasoline prices. That merchant said some canned goods have been increased by two or three pesos, but cleaning products, personal hygiene items, and snacks have not changed.
The adjustments aren't generalized and in some establishments, grocery prices remain unchanged. Another merchant said that except for the increase int 2.5 and 3.5 soft drinks, prices haven't changed. A grocery store owner in colonia Canotal said the in addition to increasing soft drink prices by a peso, some other prices have increased between one and two pesos.
Owners of micro-businesses are are concerned about the effect on prices if ferry rates increase. One merchant said, "What will break us is going to be when the cargo ferry rates rise, because then the suppliers will charge more for freight, coupled with the natural increases of the market, which will force us to raise prices too much, at least on some products. I hope I am wrong, for the good of all."  It is considered to be a matter of time until increases are seen in all the stores.
