Crime prevention program in La Gloria
Programa de prevención del delito en La Gloria[+] Ver masFull article at this link
The police department will begin a dialogue with the residents of La Gloria in Tuesday, which will continue throughout January, with talks about crime prevention with parents, according to Tania Galera, who is responsible for the program. The first meeting will be at 5:30 in a private home, near the Senior Citizen's dome in La Gloria, and dozens of residents of the area are expected to attend.
The department had a meeting with youths two months ago, and this program hopes to contain growing crime on the island. The program will take place in La Gloria in January and then will move to other parts of the island, while also addressing this issue in the Continental Zone on the mainland.
They will try to organize people, to maintain communication with representatives of different blocks, and to be able to activate crime prevention programs and maintain the security of families. Residents have been asking to have frank dialogues with authorities, and it was over a year ago when a meeting was held with parents, following a clash between two groups of youths at the Salina Grande walkway.
Creating a structure of partners in security would be indispensable to deal with the current delicate situation, when in reality there are many youths involved with drug addiction, and some are said to be dealing.
This announcement comes within the framework of Day of the Police, and some officers are assigned to visit houses to offer an invitation to attend the meeting on Tuesday.

Thanks to good organization and coordination by the municipal government, together with the staff of the police department (Public Safety and Traffic), the residents and visitors have enjoyed vacations without any incidents, said the mayor Juan Carrillo. He also thanked the Mexican Red Cross, Civil Defense, the Navy, the Harbor Master, and other agencies who are committed to the security and tranquility over the holidays.
He said the well being and security of visitors and citizens is one of their most important priorities, for which they maintain constant operations, including the one at the year's end celebrations on the Town Square, where a large number of attendees enjoyed a celebration without mishaps.
He explained that they have been committed during this season to working relentlessly to allow tourists and visitors to enjoy a carefree holiday in a responsible manner. He explained that although the holiday season is nearing completion, they will maintain this work without lowering their guard, to carry out surveillance operations such as the "Zero Alcohol" breathalyzer program, which was implemented to for the prevention of accidents caused by driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Mayor recognized the efforts of the officers who have been working throughout the holiday season, and for their constant efforts and work. The Operation "Guadalupe-Reyes" will end this weekend, and it is hoped and expected that the "saldo blanco" will continue.
