This is the same information that was already translated from reporters interviewing Juan Carrillo Figueroa, head of CANACO, talking about the inactivity of the whale shark tourism providers potentially causing losses of millions of pesos for the tour providers, and for island hotels. He urges federal authorities to solve this problem by deciding in favor of the whale shark tour providers of Isla Mujeres.

Holbox seamen able to take advantage of whale shark season
Náuticos de Holbox llevan ventaja en la temporada del Tiburón Ballena http://t.co/ldiCR9mo0p

As of Thursday, more than 70 percent of the Holbox licensees for whale shark tours had received their permits, while only one licensee from Isla Mujeres had received theirs. The Isla Mujeres boat owners remain hopeful that all their vessels will receive authorization. The 2014 Operating Plan states that a licensee may only have one permit for one boat, and there are many individuals in Isla Mujeres seeking to work with more than two boats. The Holbox licensees did not encounter this problem because they are integrated as a cooperative, and the permits come through the group, for each member. It is estimated that for each boat that does not work this season, there will be an average loss of 495,000 pesos.Whale shark licensees from Isla Mujeres are reporting on Facebook that they have received their permit, including Capt. Tony Garcia & Agua Adventures, and others.

Providers of services in Isla Mujeres are concerned about boats coming in close to shore at North Beach, which they say is risking the lives of swimmers. The unnamed persons say this is not a new problem, and although the swimming area is marked by a line of buoys, vessels come into the area, due to a lack of monitoring by the Harbor Master.

In recognition of World Turtle Day on Friday, the director of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (SEMA) restated his committment to conserve and protect the marine turtles that nest on the coasts of Quintana Roo. In Isla Mujeres, the first three nests have been collected, of which two are loggerheads, and one is a hawksbill. The director of the Tortugranja, Raziel Rivero Coba said they are being assisted by personnel from Dolphin Discovery, the municipal Ecology agency, and ZOFEMAT (Federal Zone agency), who were cleaning one of the most important turtle nesting beaches, located in front of colonia Guadalupana.

Expedia wants to "sell" Isla Mujeres
Expedia quiere ‘vender’ Isla Mujeres[+] Ver mas
Expedia has offered a marketing plan for this destination this summer, with discounted packages offered for a special period, and the proposal appealed to entrepreneurs. The Expedia executives presented the plan for "Venta de Verano Isla Mujeres" "Isla Mujeres Summer Sale". The sale consists of a purchasing window from June 18 to July 2nd, with travel dates between June 10th 2014 and April 30th 2015. The special offer consists of an additional 5 percent off on hotels and packages.
This presentation was a result of the recent Tianguis Turistico convention. It was attended by public servants, hotel and restaurant managers from both the island and the mainland, as well as the representative of the small hotel association, Leonel Castillo Povedano. When city official Cesar Poot opened the meeting, he said, "Our biggest and most special asset is tranquility, and every person who visits can feel this peacefulness as soon as they get off of the boat."
The Director of Expedia in Mexico and Central America, Pablo Castro, said the company is very interested, and is willing to sign contracts for a commercial relationship with the local businesses, to bring in tourists 365 days a year. Expedia has over 15 years of experience in the industry, and is a subsidiary of Microsoft.

Leonel Povedano Moguel won a national bodybuilding competition recently, in the veteran category, and will receive official recognition from the municipal government at an event in upcoming days. In the past, the islander has distinguished himself in various sports,  including winning tournaments with the basketball teams "Cahuameros" and "Quelonios", and earning the nickname "Micro".
He competed in the 35th edition of Mr Mexico, in the category of 40-49 years, and being up to 80 kilos in weight. Over 600 athletes participated in the competition. He will now represent Mexico in October at the world competition in his category. Last year he came close to winning this title, which he has now gained. On Facebook, he thanks he family for their support, and motivation, as well as his coach. Leonel Povedano Moguel is the owner of Gym Tonic in Isla Mujeres, where he has built up his muscles in recent years.

Without a place to put his boats

Fisherman Daniel Avila Solis is worried after having received an eviction notice regarding his two boats that are located near the entrance of Madero Street, at the boardwalk on Rueda Medina. He says he has used this beach since childhood. He was interviewed at his house, with his wife, in front of the beach. He is in poor health, recovering from half his body being paralyzed, and continues to work despite this. He is a licensee of Pez Escribano near Contoy National Park, and with three assistants he catches the fish that are used as bait for sports fishing. He is a member of the cooperative "Patria y Progreso" but they are located 2 kilometers from his home, in comparison to this beach, which is only 20 meters away.
This area of the federal zone was used by the Orozco Rodriguez family, who in turn leased it for construction of local stores to Domingo Amaya for over 10 years, but it (the concession) was registered in his name, and he insists it was all done according to the laws. He says the last time he talked to Amaya about the situation,  he was threatened. He says in 2009 SEMARNAT gave orders to clean up this area, and this is the reason given for the eviction. He wants to try to find a way to keep his boats there, and to have the laws applied, otherwise he says he will need to take action.

Brothers bickering because of the proximity of their properties

Dimes y diretes entre hermanos a causa de su proximidad vecinal .. [+] Ver mas

This article is fairly similar to the one already translated about a disagreement between brothers who live near each other. It explains that their father divided land between four brothers, of whom one moved to New York. The property is located near the entrance of the Makax Lagoon. One has a restaurant on his property, and another has a workshop, where fiberglass boats are repaired. There are also allegations of one brother having imposed upon another brother's lot.
