A great deal of seaweed has arrived to the beaches of the area known as "The Riíto", affecting about a half dozen businesses nearby. Some employees of these businesses began removing the sargasso, but the staff from ZOFEMAT have not started cleaning it away. There are concerns that there will be bad odors if the seaweed is left to rot. (This is the area at the northern point of the island where there is a bridge to Mia, near NaBalam.)

The songs included Granada, Copitas de Mezcal, Suéñame Quintana Roo, Popurrí de la Revolución, and others. EMERGENCIA
Provoca incendio movilización
0 27 de agosto de 2015 By Carlos Gasca
- Since the lobster season began on July 1, there have been 14 cases of decompression treated at the hyperbaric chamber. The most recent case was Rafael Valdez Maldonado, 31, who dived down 110 feet. he said he was forced to surface quickly because of a problem with his oxygen supply. When he came out of the water, he felt a sharp pain in his left arm, which affected his mobility. He improved following treatment in the hyperbaric chamber.

Seaweed suddenly arrives at Playa Norte
Repentino arribo de sargazo a Playa Norte.. [+] Ver mas
The sudden arrival of seaweed generated surprise when it landed on the beach facing the islet of El Yunque (where Mia is located). There was no cleaning crew as of noon on Wednesday, working in the area. Witnesses said the seaweed began arriving on Monday, suggesting that a current changed and caused an 'arm' of saragossa, from the masses that are affecting northern Quintana Roo, to land on the island.
Cleaning these areas is the responsibility of ZOFEMAT, the Federal Zone agency, who received special federal resources last week to meet this emergency, in the form of cleaning crews (under the Temporary Employment Program.). It is expected that this "arm" of seaweed came to the island because of a current change, and the rest has continued its journey up the Yucatan Channel to the Gulf of Mexico. Boat crews have confirmed that there is less saragossa out a sea in recent days, when they are out fishing.
(It appeared as 'islands' of seaweed off the east coast, whose reddish color can be seen floating on the surface in the distance, following the rain storm the other night, and is still coming in to a much lesser degree. Young turtles live in saragossa 'islands' while they mature, making a giant loop around the Atlantic, but I wonder how this could affect the babies swimming out.)
Clarifying boundaries to avoid complaints

A representative of the well known businessman, Alvaro Gutierrez Gonzalez, explained that there was an error when the paving stones for the malecon were laid more than a decade ago, and the property limits have been verified. The paving stones were placed on private property and the fence posts to define the property are not invading a public area. A document was offered to the reporter showing the measurements and jagged lines. If they were to respect the measures on the document, several of the malecon lights would be on his private property, but that section along the malecon of about two meters is being donated.
The property is along the street Madero, with a total area of 1276 square meters, where the Perla del Caribe hotel was located before it was demolished. Now condominiums are being built. The work on the northern section will begin first, and the southern section will take longer, depending on how the project goes for the islander businessman, who is now based in Campeche.
To prevent complaints, Sr. Gutierrez Gonzalez decided to make it public that no public land has been invaded. However, it is generally known that there have been other cases at the southern areas of that malecon where people have constructed fences and walls for their houses, with no official explanation.
