Fifty chairs for classrooms were also donated.

Municipal Director of Health,  Tharin Vital Casique, said decreasing temperatures are forecast for the end of the year and early January, and it is vital that children under 10 years of age and senior citizens over 60 dress warmly, and they are encouraged to eat plenty of foods high in Vitamin C. This time of year is associated with increased respiratory illnesses.

Starting this weekend, checkpoints will be in place practically 24 hours a day, and officers will be more rigorous with drivers in general, both visitors and locals, said the Chief of Police, Joaquin Poot Acosta. Fines will be applied to persons who drive while intoxicated or who are underage drivers, as well as to golf carts with excessive numbers of passengers, and those who are driving scooters without helmets or while talking on cell phones. The fines range from five to 50 days of minimum wage (~$5usd/day, so ~$25-$250dlls), with fines for repeat offenses for the same driver of up to 90-100 days of minimum wage. 
   He said that on the days of Dec. 24th and Dec. 31st the checkpoints will remain in place for 36 hours, which means that they will be set up at noon on Dec. 24 and continue until 12 at night on December 25; and they will be set up at noon on Dec 31 and continue until 12 at night on the first day of the year. These are part of the holiday security operation "Guadalupe-Reyes", although it includes more days than expected.
   According to information from the Director of Public Works,  Miguel Ariel Caballero García, the main road under construction, prolongation Rueda Medina, could be put into operation at the last week of this month, although it may possibly not be 100 percent ready.


Ten million pesos for sports infrastructure: During first quarter of 2015 
 During the first three months of 2015, there will be ~10 million pesos investing in sports infrastructure including construction of a dome, remodeling spaces, and building a skating and skate board park near the colonia Las Chiapanecos, which has been requested by youths of Isla Mujeres for some time. They have requested a skate park with obstacles and equipment where they can do their stunts. A dome will be constructed at the Middle School "Benito Juarez", and the green dome and tennis court in colonia Salinas will be remodeled. These works are expected to be finished by April 2015.

 The Director of the Hospital gave assurances that they have adequate staff and equipment to meet demands for care by residents and visitors during the December and New Year holidays. There should be no concern that the sick or injured will not be served, so no one should worry. They are aware that the number of visitors increase at this time, and the number of accidents may increase, and they are prepared to meet the demand.
      The facility has 23 doctors, 21 nursing staff members, nine hospital beds, four emergency beds, and an ambulance. Only 10 to 15 percent of the staff are allowed to take vacation with the intention of not leaving patients without services. All services will be available on Dec 24th, 25th, 31st, and Jan 1st.

Statistics indicate that the largest number of foreign visitors at this time of year come from northern countries, namely the United States and Canada.

 The process of handover of the job of hospital administrator began on November 18, from Marinelly Trejo Vivas to José Alberto Cortázar, but the former administrator continues to sign documents. The unionized workers requested the removal of the former administrator,  which was agreed upon by officials following negotiations.

Diving specialists collected three dimensional images near Isla Mujeres, including members of the team Mexico Divers, led by young Misael Fernández Estermann. The work of filming this chain of reefs in  Belize, Sian Ka'an, Cozumel, Cancun, and Isla Mujeres began in 2013.  It is noted that there were many more schools of fish in the documentaries filmed decades ago by the crews of Jacques Yves Cousteau, which is attributed to poaching near Garrafon Park.

  Regarding the schedule of celebrations for the patron saint of the island, they are as follows:
On Friday, Nov. 28, the activities honoring the Virgin of Immaculate Conception, the patroness of Isla Mujeres, will begin with the removal of the icon from her niche, and the blessings of the banners of the guilds & blessings for the faithful who have kept a promise during the year. Following the blessings by Father Raul Sanchez, there will be a procession through the town center.  That will be followed by fireworks, and the ribbon cutting to inaugurate the festivals, by the City officials. 
    On Friday, there will be family oriented celebration to carry on traditions that will include a vaquería, bailables,and a kermesse.
 Sat. Nov 29, the gremios of  colonias Cañotal & Salinas;

 Sunday, Nov.30 el gremio de Niños & of the  colonia Miraflores.
Monday, Dec. 1, gremio of Apostolados of la Capilla,  of la Caridad del Cobre

On Sunday, Dec 7, at 7pm, the Virgin will pass through the main streets of the isle in a caravan of members of the congregation of the Church of Immaculate Conception. At 10:30pm the gremio of the mobile vendors will celebrat with a grand kermesse, and the mass of the  mañanitas will be held for  a la patrona of the island.
 To close the celebrations, on Monday, December 8 at 10am there will be a mass of First Communion, and of the gremio of las Choncitas, and at 3pm there will be a boat procession in the Bay, a mass, and the Virgin will be returned to her niche until next year.

 Artist Fairs on the Town Square, usually first Thursday, were cancelled for October & November.  There's a second fair in December, with tastings  Dec. 18  4p-9p
