With the participation of dozens of young faithful Catholics, the race in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe will be held on Thursday, for a distance of 7 kilometers. According to the schedule of the Catholic Church, the mass will be held at the downtown Church of Immaculate Conception at 7pm, followed by a blessing of the runners. Around 8pm the runners will begin with a tour of the downtown area and past the Monument to the Fishermen, heading toward Punta Sur and then they will return to reach their goal, the chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe (in colona Salina Chica). After the arrival of the runners, a Mass will be held at the chapel at 10:30pm and then they will sing las mañanitas (birthday songs) to Guadalupe, the Virgen del Tepeyac.
Note that after the departure of the runners from the downtown church, there will be a procession with the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe to the chapel of the Virgin of Guadalulpe in colonia Salina Chica.
Yesterday Por Esto said they will be traveling down the eastern coastal road, and traffic is expected to be affected since they are unable to detour it due to construction on the main road. Police will be assisting and escorting the participants.

Nov 30 Hurricane Season Officially Ends
Regarding the schedule of celebrations for the patron saint of the island, they are as follows:
On
Friday, Nov. 28, the activities honoring the Virgin of Immaculate
Conception, the patroness of Isla Mujeres, will begin with the removal
of the icon from her niche, and the blessings of the banners of the
guilds & blessings for the faithful who have kept a promise during
the year. Following the blessings by Father Raul Sanchez, there will be a
procession through the town center. That will be followed by
fireworks, and the ribbon cutting to inaugurate the festivals, by the
City officials.
On Friday, there will be family oriented celebration to carry on traditions that will include a vaquería, bailables,and a kermesse.

On Sunday, Dec 7, at 7pm, the
Virgin will pass through the main streets of the isle in a caravan of
members of the congregation of the Church of Immaculate Conception. At
10:30pm the gremio of the mobile vendors will celebrat with a grand
kermesse, and the mass of the mañanitas will be held for a la patrona
of the island.
To close the celebrations, on
Monday, December 8 at 10am there will be a mass of First Communion, and
of the gremio of las Choncitas, and at 3pm there will be a boat
procession in the Bay, a mass, and the Virgin will be returned to her
niche until next year.
