ISLA MUJERES, 27 de septiembre.-
It is reported that islanders are assuming that improving the roads will be a priority for the new administration, who take office on Monday, Sept. 30. About a week ago Aguakan repaired a sewage pipe on Avenue martinez Ross, breaking into three meters of pavement and this has not yet been repaired. The recent rains have caused some potholes.

The civil association Mexico Nuevo collected over 800 kilos of nonperishable food to help the victims of recent storms in the states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Tamaulipas. They set up a collection center from 5pm to 10pm outside the Habor Master's offices and about 600 people made donations. Almost immediately after they set up people arrived, including students, cabbies, housewives, and general workers, who were bringing beans, rice, milk, tuna, crackers and other items which were packed with a message of encouragement for the victims who will receive them. Around midnight they delivered the donations to the Navy who will take them to the DIF offices, who will transport them to the victims of "Ingrid" and "Manuel". It is noted that there was already a collection made by the Navy whose families contributed, as well as other islanders, that resulted in over two and a half tons being delivered to the DIF offices in Cancun, who will get the aid to the final destination.

Por Carlos Gasca .- Significant progress has been made on the renovation of the wooden pier of the cooperative Social Justicia, which is funded by the federal government through CONAPESCA. It could be completed next month, and was 28 years old. The new pier will have status lights with photocells at its end, and bilge pumps. It will be lined with tires on the sides to prevent damage to the boats and the wood will have a special resin finish to prolong its life. There will be a small palapa of four by two meters, to shelter the fishermen while they work on the dock.

Dolphin Discovery, líder mundial

Dolphin Discovery is the world leader in interactive adventures with marine mammals and also has the largest family of dolphins in human care. Its beautiful parks are located in: Isla Mujeres, Riviera Maya, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Hawaii, Tortola and AnguillaThis is the opportunity of a lifetime to swim and interact with these amazing creatures in their natural environment. From the time of the ancient Greeks, there have been stories and legends about dolphins and humans. Some of them tell how dolphins have fascinated us for years, with their curiosity, joy, intelligence and family spirit. These characteristics make the creatures seem like us, but they have abilities that are beyond  human capabilities, like echolocation .

About fifty City employees, including Directors and department heads gathered to express their objections and insist on payments for their "liquidaciones y prestaciones" and other benefits, and came to an agreement with the Mayor. The Mayor explained the uncertainty was generated by the letters of resignation in which the economic crisis is disclosed, causing the workers to request a clarification regarding payments of their settlements and other benefits. They were told they will be paid a percentage of the aguinaldo bonus, or the net salary, vacation pay, Sunday premium pay, vacation fund, saving fund, which will be an outlay of about 3 million pesos.

According to the police report, there was a notification at 4pm the arrival of a small boat with the characteristics of carrying undocumented Cubans, on the Caribbean (east) side of the island near the colonia called La Invasion, or Guadalupana. Six men were unable to provide documents proving their legal status in this country, so they were held with assistance from the Navy and made available to the National Migration Institute. The cooperative Adolfo Lopez Mateos has 26 active members and between Sept. 1 and November 30 they follow a plan implemented two years ago to cope with low season. Each boat takes half its capacity, so if it is a 16 passenger boat, they take eight passengers. This allows the members to share the income while there are fewer tourists. Although they were affected by winds and rains a few weeks ago, this week the weather has allowed them to work normally, however there are not many tourists arriving.

From How Safe is Mexico/Global crime rates..LINK

.....  The numbers in the charts below have been adjusted for unreported crime from the respected 2012 Prominix report and are the most accurate statistics available on this subject.Unless you are involved in the drug trade, you are statistically safer in Mexico than anywhere else in North America. Even though the U.S. murder rate of 4 per 100,000 is lower than Mexico’s, tourists and visitors are statistically safer in Mexico and much less likely to be a victim of violent crime than in the U.S., Canada and many other countries regarded as safe.

Daily Update: This story is still one of the highlights of my summer. Maybe because I’ve never seen such scared puppies that were raised around people. Puppies raised by wild moms in the woods will scream and bite if you try to get near them but these puppies were raised in a neighborhood. Of course I mean the ‘meanies’ which we called them with affection. One already has a home and the other two are healthy and happy. This is Heather, look at her, little miss casual, leaning on Tiffany’s knee. I still think it’s a miracle. Isn’t she beautiful? As far as my birthday wish we got a new monthly donation from Wesley, thank you so much. I also wanted to mention that I wrote a book to raise money for the dogs. It’s called ‘No Urn for the Ashes’ and is for sale on Amazon if any of you like a good mystery, it has had great reviews. I’m almost finished with my second book about the dogs, I’ll let you know when it comes out.
