Isla Mujeres Daily News & Events Wednesday, November 4

Today, the total number of cases of C-19 in Isla Mujeres remains at 222 with 20 deaths and now there are 185 recovered.
The state geoportal continues to report 6 active cases by colonia as 1 in Salina Chica, 2 in La Gloria and 3 Downtown.
On the national map for 11/3, the municipality reports 145 suspicious and 103 negatives.

 

Cold Front #11 remains stationary over us and the rest of the NE Caribbean, while Tropical Storm Eta is flooding Central America & is expected to continue weakening into a remnant low tomorrow. Its upper-level circulation is expected to remain intact & a surface cyclone is predicted to regenerate once the system moves into the NW Caribbean Sea on Friday. It is expected to regain Tropical Storm strength before moving across Cuba toward Florida. Our forecast for today is for more of the same--variable cloudiness, cooler temps, strong cool winds from the N & NE, with showers & squalls.
On the 4-day forecast--Circles mean rain & darker means more, purple squigglies are wind. Nueva Masa de Aire Frio is New Mass of Cold Air, B is low pressure.

 The Ultracarga vehicle ferry to Punta Sam remains suspended. There is no notice about the passenger ferry to Puerto Juarez since yesterday's saying it continues to operate, and it continued to operate today.

Turtles continue hatching out at the Tortugranja in November

The mamas nest along the eastern beaches from May thru October. Tortugranja staff and volunteers gather the eggs and incubate them in the sand in a pen outside the facility. Three species nest annually in Isla Mujeres, Greens, Loggerheads, and Hawksbills.  Photos of nest hatching out at MaraVilla Caribe Bed & Beach, that was missed by the Tortugranja patrols, by Bruce.

 Thursday, Nov. 26--Normally celebrations for Isla's Patron Saint would begin and continue thru her day, December 8, but this year public celebrations have been suspended due to C-19.
