Chances have increased to 60% through 5 days that a Tropical Depression could form late this week or this weekend when that tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean reaches the central or western Caribbean Sea.
Tropical Storm Eta is stationary just north of the Yucatan channel 135 mi NE of Cabo Catoche, Q Roo (which is in our municipality, about 30 miles north, at the northern tip of the Peninsula), with winds of 50 mph. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center. Some areas of Cuba remain under Tropical Storm Watch. Little overall motion is forecast today, with a slow northward motion expected tonight through Thursday, moving farther away.
