A worker said the terminal has been ready for a couple of days, except the staff of the Port Authority must contract for electricity. The worker said in the past week, they were  attending to the final details of this important public work, which will benefit thousands of people, islanders and tourists of all nationalities. The worker was unaware of the date of its official opening, and said their work is 100% complete. A worker with the Port Authority said the construction is virtually complete, but furniture is needed for the offices and other areas. The Governor is expected to cut the ribbon for the inauguration, whose date has not yet been announced. During 2013, the total number of arrivals and departures was 2,482,447 which was 151,000 more than in 2012. The new terminal consists of an area of 1691 square meters.

Profiting from the sale of protected birds

Lucran con la venta de aves protegidas

.Tourists who visited the Mundaca Hacienda complained to the media that municipal employees are catching the colorful birds there to sell them. They said they witnessed the capture of these birds, and asked why they were being trapped, and the response was to be sold. The tourists asked if this was not prohibited, and said the reply was that there was no problem because they worked for the municipality. There is an area where the birds come to feed and play, and it is asked that the Mayor intervene. The tourist noted they always bring their daughter to the Mundaca Hacienda, and they do not think it is fair that these people are catching these birds, who in theory should be protected there, he said.
