During the Thirty-Seventh Regular Session of City Council, the Council approved the proposal that Isla Mujeres seek inclusion in the "Magical Towns" / Pueblos Magicos program, developed by the Federal Government, in coordination with the State Government.
Durante la Trigésima Séptima Sesión Ordinaria de Cabildo, el pleno del cuerpo de regidores aprobó el punto de acuerdo para que el Municipio de Isla Mujeres gestione su incorporación al programa “Pueblos Mágicos”, desarrollado por el Gobierno Federal en coordinación con el Gobierno del Estado.

On this Flag Day, the mayor of Isla Mujeres, Agapito Magaña Sanchez, attended the event at Fifth Naval District as guest of honor of the raising of the  flag of Naval Search and Rescue Station..
 During his visit to the facilities of the Navy of Mexico, the mayor signed the book of distinguished visitors.

Javier Martinez Cen La Banda Sin Nombre has played for 12 years at Faynes, we needed some days off, so less than a year a go, we let the band Radios play for us (at the same stage same time), they are great! LBSN play Weds/Saturday from 10:30 till 12, Fridays and Saturdays we also play next door, at Adelitas, just salsa music, from 12:39 till 2:00  (I'm not sure if this is still current

. For the next month we'll be synced with EST,  until March 8, when the US goes onto DST (and we don't). Then for ~8 months we are in sync w Central Time in the US, since we will no longer be changing back & forth with Daylight Savings Time. (DST is March 8-Nov.1 in the US, and April 5-Oct. 25 in Mexico.)           
        We're only synced with EST  in the US ~4 mos/yr from Nov 1-March 8.     
         To permanently adjust your clocks, you can chose a location like Panama that stays on EST without changing to DST

 Monday, February 2 no school/day off for February 5th Constitution Day. (And if you got the baby in your rosca on Kings Day, you're hosting a tamale party on 2/2.Candlemas)

February 2-8 Island Time Fishing Tournament -- a week of music and fishing to benefit the Little Yellow School House.


Thursday February 12th will be the Navy Wives Breakfast at 9:00 am at Club Naval in Centro. The proceeds go to the Navy Hospital. This month the theme is Valentine's Day, and the tickets will be 120 pesos. This breakfast is really more like lunch, and we should be meeting the wife of the new commandant.
