Ultramar ferry's Operations Manager, Arturo Baez Vega confirmed there will not be extra crossings this weekend. It was proposed that three more crossings at late night (hourly) begin tonight, Friday, Feb. 13, but due to issues of logistics and staffing, this will not take place and the pilot plan is on hold. The last ferry departs the mainland at 11:30pm. The schedule is at the bottom of this blog.

Hockey legends in Isla Mujeres
Leyendas del hockey en Isla Mujeres[+] Ver mas
Alton White, a legendary hockey player in the 1970's has spent the past three winters in Isla Mujeres, at the invitation of another outstanding hockey player, Yves Locas, who has spent this season on the island for many years. An interview was conducted at the Hotel Francis Arlene where where they are both staying for several days with their respective families, who agreed they enjoy spending time among the local residents, who they say are warm and kind. Translating was done by Don Gerardo Magana.
Mr White will be 70 on May 31, and was the second player of African descent to play for a hockey team in a top professional league, and was the first black hockey player to score 20 goals in a single season for a major league team. He was the first black player to score a "hat trick" of three goals in a game, in a professional game in the majors.
During his career, he played in his own country, Canada, and then in the United States where he played three seasons for the World Hockey Association with the New York Raiders, the Los Angeles Sharks, the Michigan Stags, & the Baltimore Blades. He scored 21 goals and 21 assists for the Sharks in the 1972-73 season. He was born in Amherst Nova Scotia, and is accompanied by his wife, Linda. He has been friends with Mr Locas for 45 years and recalled when their beloved sport had only six teams. They first visited on a day trip and became enamored with the island and 'bewitched' by the goddess Ixchel, like many retirees.  Mr Locas was also accompanied by his wife at the interview, Pierrette Locas. During his career he was a Canadian hockey player and he also played for the Hershey Bears, Pittsburgh Hornets, Indians  of Springfield and Providence Reds, in the American Hockey League.
