A customer who returned repeatedly to find the new business was closed, spoke to a neighbor after the fourth day and she said the techs had left the island two days previously, with two backpacks and three boxes, at least. The neighbor said since then, at least a dozen islanders had come by asking about the technicians. The Public Ministry of Common Law / Ministerio Público del Fuero Común (MPFC) said no complaints had been filed. The owner of the building said a complaint to the PJE State Judicial Police is required to enter and check for equipment they may have left behind.

Important progress is being made at the sports facilities of 'futbol rapido' in La Gloria, and at the basketball court "Jose de Carmen Pastrana" (downtown by the square). At the soccer court there will be an outdoor gymnasium, with a chain link fence, that includes an elliptical treadmill, equipment to exercise the waist, "wabboard" for abdominals, jaladora doble de manos, synthetic turf, floodlights, and a covered area for the players and for the grandstand. The three levels of government are contributing (municipal, state, and federal).
In colonia Salina Chica, at the park known as La Juala, the state government is presently building a dome for athletic activities.

Disappointment with alleged program of assistance
Defrauda con presunto programa de apoyo+] Ver mas
This article says a half dozen people have contacted the newspaper to complain about Sra. Fátima Heredia González, regarding an offer of benefits from foreign funding in which the recipient provides 50 percent of the cash for the work. This service has existed for four years, and has been extended to several communities in the Yucatan, but there are allegations of fraud from people who have waited months or even a year, and did not receive help. Her phone numbers are given as well as her address in colona Canotal.
There are claimants who say they have not received delivery of materials or refund of their cash, in amounts of 5000; 10,000; 20,000 and greater numbers. They complain that the phone numbers are not being answered and no one comes out of the house. A woman said she gave her 19,000 pesos for a water tank, but he has received nothing.
In an interview, the defendant offered to contact the reporter and explain the situation in detail, saying, "I have papers to prove this and I do not want problems. I am honest. I was late, but everything will be fulfilled". She noted that some people invent things and, like politics, many things are said.
She explained that she does not make money from this and it began when several shanty homes burned down in colonia Guadalupana. There were some Americans staying at a hotel where she worked who offered to help, and the project began. However there is no organization of the foreigners offering this support; it is done personally. There has been a lack of money and some materials were canceled for late payments.

Resources for this plan are 1, 226,500 pesos. They plan to address the problem of strays with ongoing sterilization campaigns for dogs and cats, education, and signs.

It is noted that thanks to security cameras at hotels or hostels, two outsiders were identified who were stealing from hotel rooms, who have left the island.
There have also been several youngsters identified who were stealing from golf carts near Garrafon, and this problem seems to have calmed town since the public announcement of their modus operandi, but we must remain vigilant, said the Director of Tourism.
He said there are three bilingual police officers on duty since the December holidays, although they had been been limited to serving the visitors at the town square. Two more officers are being trained, in order to expand this coverage.
When speaking with the Tourist Police on patrol on Rueda Medina, it was learned they give advice and information to an average of 30 visitors daily while in the streets, but when they are in the Information Center this is multiplied to about 100 tourists who flock to the kiosk for assistance.

The Mayor's public meeting was cancelled at the last minute on Tuesday, with a note saying it is postponed and will be rescheduled. The rumor in the halls of the Palacio Municipal was that this was caused by the Mayor not returning from Chetuaml in time, where he was allegedly at a meeting. Por Esto notes that this inconvenienced housewives who left their chores, businessmen who traveled from the mainland, and islanders in general who had to reschedule their day to attend the meeting, which was not held.
