Department of Civil Protection increases monitoring for the protection of visitors and relatives LINK
The Director of Civil Protection in Isla Mujeres, Merced Ortiz Maya, said, "We urge all island businessmen to keep up with the current rules of the Municipal Civil Protection Law to avoid sanctions, because our goal is to protect their businesses, their workers and all the people who visit us.It is very important that local entrepreneurs are aware that all establishments have to comply with certain safety standards that guarantee the physical integrity of both their customers and their workers. We are carrying out a diligent operation on the island and Punta Sam for the benefit of the entire island community."
He added that these tasks are part of a new program of regularization, implemented on November 1, which consists of visiting all the shops and recreational centers of Isla Mujeres to verify that they have their complete documentation, personnel trained in protection. civil and the corresponding security protocols.
He concluded by saying that these works will ensure that Isla Mujeres continues to be the safest municipality in Quintana Roo, helping to maintain its position as one of the most important destinations worldwide and improving the quality of life of island families.

Census for the benefit of the island
Inicia censo para el bienestar en la ínsula
Census information will be collected from senior citizens who are 68 or older, students, and residents with disabilities, as well as members of the working class, from Dec. 17-2, for the new Mexican social program "Bienestar". Applications and registration will be provided at various locations around the isle, which are given, to facilitate participation by those who are interested in accessing social support programs. Minors with disabilities and young people between the ages of 18 and 29 who lack education or work will also be considered for the program.Hiring outside workers due to high demand

Breves de Isla Mujeres
After this weekend's games, the Isla Mujeres Cahuamero basketball team moved from first to second place, behing the Dorados of Playa del Carmen. The Cahuameros were unable to play this weekend because there was no court available on the island, so they will play the Chetumal Manatees in January. Of 12 games, the Dorados have only lost one game, while the Cahuameros have lost two, one against the Dorados and one against Universidad Modelo of Merida.
In baseball, the Isla Mujeres Pescadores lost to the Cancun Taxistas with a score of 10 to 8, in an exciting game where both teams scored home runs. They also go into a vacation period until games resume in January.
Sunday night's Noches Magicas performances were a success and enjoyed by the audience. The program will continue each Sunday night for the enjoyment of families, with performances by local artists and guests. (Sunday nights at 8p on the Town Square).

Fine dining a few steps away at Da Luisa or try the neighborhood eateries a couple blocks farther. Within ten minutes walk are a variety of restaurants including Mango Cafe, Brisas, Manolitos, La Chatita, Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, and the large department store-grocery , Chedraui. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Attend Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk downtown.

The other schedule shows events by the private groups in her honor at their facilities. The confirmations are at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7pm.
"Toro Goal" events at the "Plaza de Toros y Feria" in Amplification La Gloria are where two teams of audience members get a small bull to chase them between chairs for goals. Regarding event tonight (Saturday) at 7p, Isla Mujeres al Dia says: Organizers have told us that they do not kill or mistreat the bulls, it will be good to go and see in what manner the event takes place. The stadium is in Amplificacion La Gloria (along the coastal road, just north of Isla 33).

Thursday, Dec. 13 Tonight is the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, which is considered one of the best & "most reliable", because the individual meteors are bright, and they come fast and furious. With the quarter moon setting at midnight this year, more than 100 per hour may be visible, depending on the level of light pollution. Space.com advises giving your eyes 20 minutes to adjust & to lean back and take in the whole sky, since they can appear anywhere, traveling away from that point. Some meteors may be visible as early as 9-10p, but the most can be seen around 2a.
