DIF facilitates recycling of packaging from toothpaste and soap LINK
The collection by the DIF social service agency of packaging from soap and dental hygiene items will continue thru December 14th at their office, with support from the eco-friendly recycling company "TerraCycle", and the City government. The office is open 9a-4p, Monday thru Friday.

Seeking application of Mobility Law for the safety of everyone following events in Cancun LINK
The State Congress recently approved the Mobility Law which includes two types of safety requirements, with one specifying that taxis must have seat belts and airbags and the other requiring GPS, to know their exact locations (It has been reported that the deadline to meet these requirements is in March.)
Eduardo Martínez Arcila, president of the Great Commission of the State Congress, referred to the unfortunate case of the young woman who disappeared in Cancun, which is alleged to be associated with a taxi driver, and spoke about the need to enforce these requirements. He said the State Congress wants the Mobility Institute to demand compliance with this Law.

Starting to feel like high season in Isla Mujeres
In the municipality, hotel occupancy is at 70%, but according to reservations, it is expected to reach 90% in the Continental Zone. Meanwhile, on the island, occupancy is expected to increase in mid-December in the hotels with less than a hundred rooms, but vacation rentals continue to be a impediment to the occupancy rates of small hotels.
PROFECO, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency, will monitor businesses during Guadalupe-Reyes holiday period to ensure that prices of products and services are clearly displayed and that abuses are not committed. This includes reviewing golf cart rental agencies.

Within ten minutes walk are a variety of restaurants including Mango Cafe, Brisas, Manolitos, La Chatita, Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, and the large department store-grocery , Chedraui. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Attend Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk downtown.

"Toro Goal" events at the "Plaza de Toros y Feria" in Amplification La Gloria are where two teams of audience members get a small bull to chase them between chairs for goals. Regarding event tonight (Saturday) at 7p, Isla Mujeres al Dia says: Organizers have told us that they do not kill or mistreat the bulls, it will be good to go and see in what manner the event takes place. The stadium is in Amplificacion La Gloria (along the coastal road, just north of Isla 33).
