At the state level, conjunctivitis infections continue to rise. According to the website of the National System of Epidemiological Surveillance (SINAVE), as of week number 20, there have been a total of 7817 cases. LINK  

The Department of Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS), began with the verification of various commercial establishments in order to prevent the sale and distribution of electronic cigarettes since these products represent a risk to the health of those who consume them. LINK

June 2  Young islanders Rubén Garrido and Noé López, both 17, went to Monterrey to try out for the Tigres soccer team, with Brazilian Gerson Boss, who coaches the Isla Mujeres Tiburoneros team. They are waiting to hear whether they will be selected for the team. A dozen players from the state of Quintana Roo were observed by specialists in Playa del Carmen, and invited to Monterrey to demonstrate their skills. They were born in the years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007. 
   The young Noé came from Comitán de Domínguez, Chiapas, and is part of the Club Tiburoneros and Rubén Garrido is a native of Isla Mujeres. Both were interviewed shortly before their departure to Monterrey, and spoke of their dreams and the responsibilities that are involved with being tested by an organization such as the Tigres.   The soccer organization of Isla Mujeres announced that other country soccer teams like Pumas de la UNAM and Chivas de Guadalajara, will be visiting the island to see the evolution of other local players.

  June 2   Saturday arrived with good weather, which is expected to continue thru Thursday and the port is open for all nautical activities, including whale shark tours. Thousands of tourists arrived to the island on the ferries and on boat tours, to enjoy activities on land and in the water. Restaurants, bars, and golf cart rental agencies reported that business was good. The Harbor Master reported that all of the buoys and signaling devices are in working order and there were no incidents as of noon on Saturday.

Fine dining a few steps away at Da Luisa or try the neighborhood eateries a couple blocks farther. Within ten minutes walk are a variety of restaurants including Mango Cafe, Brisas, Manolitos, La Chatita, Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, and the large department store-grocery , Chedraui. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Attend Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants. It takes 20-30  minutes to walk downtown.
