On the second night of Carnaval in Isla Mujeres we celebrated the Noche Cubana/Cuban Night with performances by the colorful dance troupes  LINK
In the afternoon, dance troupes performed on Rueda Medina, bringing color and joy to the Pueblo Magico
On the second night of Carnaval, the dance troupes of the various Kings & Queens performed for Cuban Night, to an audience of tourists and islanders who filled the Town Square, with pleasant weather and sea breezes. The theme of this year's celebration is “La Tradición del Caribe”. This year's edition promises lots of fun for children and adults, with musical groups and many surprises, so the organizing committee invites islanders and visitors to enjoy every day!

The first Carnaval Parade in Isla Mujeres was a success  LINK
More than ten dance troupes paraded down Rueda Medina avenue
On Sunday afternoon, the first Carnaval parade took place, full of color and enthusiasm, on Rueda Medina avenue, from the Naval base to the Fishermen's monument, with many islanders and tourists lining the route to enjoy the performances by the participating dance troupes and the floats.
Later in the afternoon on the Town Square, the presentation of the children's Kings and Queens of Carnaval took places at the "Children's Fantasy Afternoon" where island families were delighted by a presentation of children's entertainment, bouncy houses, and a children's costume contest.
The edition of Carnaval is themed "“La Tradición del Caribe”, and in the evening islanders and visitors enjoyed the "Night of Fantasy Diversity", in which the Kings of the Carnival were presented and there was a transformism show.

Season of "Suradas" begins
Comienza el tiempo de suradas. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
Today the season began of the southern winds, although its arrival in the Yucatan Channel was not intense. However, it is forecast that they will increase in strength as the winter season progresses. Meanwhile, the 'norte' northern winds are entering their final phase, to give rise to the "suradas" that will become more frequent in the upcoming weeks, and are also associated with potentially dangerous sudden squalls, like the "mahache" phenomenon, which caused the disappearance of three fishermen about two decades ago.
The Harbor Master depends on the information from the Navy, monitoring wind conditions in real time, who observe that the cool winds from the north turn from the arctic Atlantic when going to the Caribbean, and they make a sort of circle, which is why when they arrive at Isla Mujeres, the winds are from the south-southeast, as they are at this time. The strength of the winds was 26km/hr with stronger gusts when they arrived Sunday afternoon.
The incident with the three fishermen occurred in 1998, on the morning of Feb. 6, and affected nearly the entire fleet of fishermen in small boats who were going out to catch lobster. The boat "Maranatha" sank several miles south of the island with fishermen José Bonifacio Trejo, José Francisco Barbudo Loría and Diego Dzul Loría on board. Crew members of a Mexican Navy helicopter had sighted it but the strong winds and rain prevented a quick rescue. To date there has been no trace of them, but the boat was found a few weeks later off the coast of Florida.

Business owners continue to complain about the lack of lockers and public bathrooms at North Beach & Playa Centro, and they want municipal authorities to address this need.

Carnaval troupes dancing in the streets
Las comparsas toman las calles[+] Ver masFull artile at this link
Starting after noon, the Carnaval troupes began dancing in the streets in their multicolored costumes to the rhythm of salsa, reggae, and reggaeton to the delight of visitors and islanders who recorded the dancers on their electronic devices and shared them around the world. Local photographer Tony Garcia's photographs and videos are shared and enjoyed by many users of social media. The evening's entertainment will include performances by the troupes, as part of the festival that will continue into the wee hours. Police report a "saldo blanco" (no serious incidents).
