Carts have appeared on the streets selling patriotic items for the upcoming national holiday, which begins with the Cry/Grito for Independence on September 15, and continues with the civic-military parade on September 16.  It is expected that in upcoming days, City workers will be putting decorations on City Hall to celebrate the month of patriotism. Some local businesses are selling decorations, and it is expected that many will decorate their establishments for the national holidays.

The harbor remains open for all types of navigation, with good weather conditions. Passengers for the lanchero tours and on the ferries have decreased with the end of the summer vacation period.
There are forecasts for chances of isolated showers on Wednesday, Thursday , and Saturday, while it is predicted that Friday and Sunday should be sunny days.
Tropical wave 24 is in southeastern Mexico and moving west, causing rain in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Puebla, and Tabasco, and potentially strong storms in Campeche, some rain showers in Yucatan, and possibly some drizzle in Quintana Roo, with temperatures of 35-40 C. Tropical Storm Gaston is not expected to affect Mexico.

Abandoned airfield

For many years the Mexican Navy was in charge of the airfield and the facilities were kept in good condition, with naval personnel always present in the control tower. Now it is not receiving maintenance since the Navy discontinued their administration, and there are businessmen who are disappointed and losing hope about their proposals to reactivate it.

Professional and amateur chefs can participate in the IV Gastronomic Competition based on lion fish, which will be held in the Town Square on Friday, August 26th, at pm.
One of the objectives of the organizers of the competition is to promote the sale and consumption of lion fish in local restaurants, in an attempt to offset their proliferation. They are not native to this area and have become a top predator of other species. They pose a risk to the balance of marine ecosystems because they lack natural enemies in these waters and reproduce rapidly.
Lion fish are edible, but care must be taken during capture and preparation with their venomous spines. They have already become a common dish among people in some other states of Mexico and in several Caribbean countries, where their proliferation is worrisome and these measures are being taken to control the species. Due to the speed at which they reproduce, it would be very difficult to eradicate them completely.
