The Municipal Easter Vacation Committee 2016 was installed on Wednesday, therefore the municipality is ready to receive and respond to the vacationers and ensure their safety and security, as well as that of the local community. These preventative monitoring actions will be ongoing until Monday April 4.
Este miércoles se instaló el Comité Municipal de Vacaciones de Semana Santa 2016, con esto, el municipio de Isla Mujeres se encuentra preparado para recibir y atender a los vacacionistas y garantizar el apoyo y la seguridad a la población local y a los visitantes.
A partir de esta fecha las acciones preventivas y de vigilancia estarán en operativo permanente hasta el lunes 4 de abril.




 Inauguration of more public works in the municipality  

This is about three public works programs that will be done to improve infrastructure as part of the Habitat Program, which will also provide jobs and prevent crime. They include improvements of public lighting in Salina Grande, a bicycle path at the Frigates Park, and renovations at the Bicentennial Plaza. I will translate the rest manana

From March 15-19, visit the Traveling Marimba Museum (MUEMAR) at the Casa de Cultura in Isla Mujere to enjoy and learn about marimbas from videos, original works, music, interactive exhibits, and others. It is open to the general public and students from 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm. 
Visit the MUEMAR and take a trip thru time and distance and learn about this indigenous instrument from Chiapas.
Del 15 al 19 de marzo visita el Museo Errante de la Marimba, instalada en el Instituto de Cultura y las Artes de Isla Mujeres.
Disfrutar y conoce más sobre la marimba mediante videos, creaciones, música, interfaces, entre otros, abierto al público en general y visitas escolares de 11:00 de la mañana a 15:00 horas y de 17:00 a 20:00 horas.

There are excellent results when volunteers work together: residents of colonia la Gloria and personnel of the municipal Public Services Department, the Ecology Department, and the Enforcement Department worked together on an intense clean up of a lot in the neighborhood of la Gloria.
Cuando las voluntades se unen se logran excelentes resultados: vecinos de La Gloria y personal de las Direcciones de Servicios Públicos, Ecología y Contraloría, realizaron una intensa jornada de limpieza en un predio de esa popular colonia.



During the Tenth Special Session of the City Council, Edmundo Altamirano was sworn in as City Councilman, to take the postion of Victor Osorio Magana, whose resignation was accepted (because he is running in the upcoming election, in compliance with the law which prohibits candidates from holding public office)

Walk less than 10 minutes southwest to shop at Chedraui or to dine at Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, or other options. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Our guests recommend the Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel.
