Three players with the Pescadorcitos baseball team will participate in the regional tournament for "William Sport", which will take place June 13-17 in the state of Veracruz. They will be among those selected to represent Quintana Roo, in the category of ages 5-6, who will play in this regional competition, hoping to win the opportunity to represent the southern part of the country, in the national phase of this tournament. The national phase will take place in August in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, and is followed by an international competition.
The three players are Matías Velázquez, Karim Piña and José Coral, accompanied by their coach Omar Nieblas, who is a left handed pitcher and former Mexican league manager.

Concern about safety in construction area near malecon walkway
Peligrosa obra en pleno malecón+] Ver mas
Construction is taking place near the eastern malecon seaside walkway, near the Casa de la Cultura and the Media Luna beach, and there are concerns for pedestrians going thru the area. Neighbors are complaining that there should be a fence separating the construction form the public walkway, which is used daily by many people, mostly tourists. There are also complaints that the workers have obstructed the ramp, which is used as an alternative to the stairs, by those who are disabled, and by tourists in golf carts.

Disrespecting PROFEPA agency
Acto de desacato a la Profepa.. [+] Ver mas
A closure notice was issued by PROFEPA (Federal Procurator for Environmental Protection) at a building site along the road to Garrafon, owned by a private individual, however work continues inside the property, exhibiting a lack of respect by the owner for this federal agency and its determinations.
The three story building is located near the private park Garrafon de Castilla, at the southern part of the island, and apparently those responsible have violated some provision of an environmental nature, which lead to closure of the construction.
However, neighbors reported to the media that despite the large closure banner that was installed by PROFEPA nearly a week ago, work continues inside the premises, although the workers are no longer working in the visible areas, nor on the high areas.
Those complaining say there are few details left to the building, whose 'obra negra' is nearly completed, which concludes the work of the masons, and the staff is engaged in other tasks.
A large blue tarp has been installed which hides activities from prying eyes, such as cutting rods and wire. There are also complaints about the workers playing music at an excessively high volume, which annoys the neighbors and the tourists staying in nearby houses, who are seeking tranquility and silence, but finding the opposite. The names of the owner and architect are given. The reporter was unable to obtain information about the municipal permits because it was Bureaucrat's Day and the Town Hall was empty, since officials took the day off.

On Tuesday, officials had the day off for Bureaucrat's Day, leaving the Town Hall vacant, so that citizens who intended to conduct municipal business had to return another day.

Hyperbaric Chamber
The Board of the Hyperbaric Chamber received a donation of several boxes of  medicines/medical supplies (medicamentos) for use in the treatment of fishermen with decompression illness.  It is noted that a nurse joined the team three weeks ago and that the Hyperbaric Chamber is available 24 hours a day for emergencies, especially for those who suffer decompression, and it also provides treatments for those who suffer from 'diabetic foot'.  The new Board for the Chamber should be determined this week, by June 17th, since Baltazar Gomez Catzin is stepping down from the position as president, which he has held for 18 years. He acknowledged that the Board is in the red, because the cooperatives have not paid their dues since the beginning of the lobster ban (March 1), which has left a lack of funds to cover the payroll.
