- Sebastián Escobedo Jiménez, in charge of the office of the municipal presidency, said they will increase the security measure in the municipality to guarantee peace and tranquility, after the violent acts against Rosely Danilú Magaña Martínez, candidate to the second position on the City Council for the PRI party. He condemned the unfortunate events that occurred on Saturday when there was an attempt on the life of Ms. Magaña Martínez and another activist in a house in the Continental Zone (on the mainland), in the evening, after a political promotion event. Mr. Escobedo Jimenez said that these facts dismay the whole community and the City Council "condemns them outright".
The Isla Mujeres municipal police department is working with the other authorities to find those who are responsible.
