Agreement guaranteeing the rights of taxi passengers
Harley protege a usuarios de taxis
Signa convenio para garantizar sus derechos
Lanrry PARRA
ISLA MUJERES, 3 de septiembre.-
The commitment was signed in the auditorium of the Taxi Union near Ranch Viejo (on the mainland), where both representatives agreed to promote human rights, both in the union of taxi drivers and in the general population. The agreement was signed by Harley Sosa Guillén, CDHeQRoo representative for Isla Mujeres and Eduardo Peniche Rodríguez, president of the Isla Mujeres Taxi Union.
Sra. Sosa said she intends to train the taxi union members about human rights, and that because of their daily contact with the general public, the drivers can be allies to share information and guidance about their rights, and the rights of their passengers, and help the Commission. She explained that because of this agreement, the taxis will promote the use of the 075 emergency line for human rights, which is available 24 hours a day for complaints about abuses of authority. She said although this line has been in existence for more than two years, it is not well known.
Sr. Peniche said he welcomes this alliance for the training of the union members, since one of his objectives as president of the union is to implement courses promoting the rights and addressing legal issues for the members. He encourages other taxi unions in the state to make a similar partnership, in order to contribute to the work of informing society so people understand their rights.

No provoca ‘el niño’ formación de ciclones
0 04 de septiembre de 2015 By Carlos GascaThe coordinator for Civil Protection for the Northern Zone of Quintana Roo, Guillermo Morales López, visited Isla Mujeres and said that because this is the "Year of el Niño”, the jet stream is protecting the Caribbean, and causing hurricanes to not affect the state. He also admitted that their impact cannot be predicted, there are no guarantees, and that constant vigilance is needed. . He said the outlook is good for Quintana Roo, and that only seven phenomena are forecast for the Atlantic area, while there are 19 predicted for the Pacific area. He noted that the upcoming months of Sept., October, and November require vigilance as the Caribbean heats up, and there is always a possibility of a hurricane impact.

Navy rescues boat
EMERGENCIA
Rescata Marina a embarcación
0 04 de septiembre de 2015 by Carlos GascaYesterday, Isla Mujeres Harbor Master, Ismael Gonzalez Gil, confirmed that the Navy had rescued the 22 foot boat "Togue II" when it was adrift ~60 miles northeast of the island. He explained that last Saturday at noon, a distress call was received from the boat, which is registered with the Port of Progreso, Yucatan (#31013573145). The two crew members, who are Cubans residing in Mexico, reported mechanical failures and said they were adrift. One of the fastest Naval vessels was dispatched to assist them. After they were located and coordinates were obtained, the patrol on the Naval zarpo vessel encountered the "Togue II", which is a white boat of the model "Grady White", and the two crew members on board were in good health. Towing took several hours and the Harbor Master said the boat arrived at 9am on Sunday. He said the vessel and its crew are not be subject to any proceeding before the Port Authorities because they did not violate any laws of navigation; they just had an emergency. Regarding their legally staying in this country, he said both the crew members were made available to the INM (National Migration Institute), who reviewed their status. The Harbor Master said, "Apparently there was no problem, because they remain on the island."He concluded by saying that now they are just waiting for the owners of the boat to appear and present the documents, proving its legal status, and it will be turned over to them.

Denuncian “bajas” en la primaria Julio Sauri Espinosa [+] Ver mas
Mario Rodríguez, grandfather of twin boys, is complaining that the children were pre-registered in a timely manner, and they had already started classes with the morning shift at Julio Sauri Espinosa primary school, when the campus Director gave notification that they cannot continue to attend there. Preliminary investigation indicates at least 20 children could be affected at this primary school.
He said he is representing his daughter, who is busy. He said he tried to find space at two other primaries, César Mendoza and Andrés Quintana Roo, without luck. He is registering them at a private school, where the cost very high, which caused an emotional shock to his daughter. Already, several thousand pesos have been spent on private school enrollment, and the monthly maintenance payments are a large amount, while the children's mother doesn't earn enough for such a commitment.
Sr Rodriguez showed their certificate of registration which indicates pre-registration was done on January 24th, within the period of enrollment set by SEQ. He said, "What bothers me is that we were given a document from the kindergarten saying which primary the twins would attend, and to which shift they were assigned. Classes began, they had their books and uniforms, and now, after a week has passed while the children attended classes, they tell me they are going to close this primary class because SEP cannot pay another teacher."

From yesterday....
The celebrations for the patron saint of the fishermen, the Virgin of Caridad del Cobre or Our Lady of Charity, began on Monday August, 31 and will conclude with the maritime procession to the fishing camp on Isla Contoy.
