SINTRA announces the conclusion of work on the Casa de Cultura "Josefa Adame Solis" in Isla Mujeres

 
Isla Mujeres. – Ariel Federico Messer Soureau, Subsecretario de Infraestructura 

The Mayor reviewed the Casa de Cultura, "Josefa Adame Solis", where work is nearly finished and events for the celebration of the 165th Anniversary of the Founding of the town are scheduled for Friday morning and evening. In the morning there will be an Oratory competition and in the evening there will be a photographic exposition and documentary conference titled "Art of Fishing" by the town historian Fidel Villanueva Madrid.
    Ariel Federico Messer Soureau, Assistant Director of Infrastructure for SINTRA (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport) said the building is ready for use on Friday, with the work nearly finished. He said they lack the 'amplification' of a transformer, following the installation of two air conditioners, whose usage is limited meanwhile, but the contract has been signed for installation on Friday.  There are some painting details to finish, but the official insisted the work will be ready by Friday. There is a classroom ready for classes to begin next week.

      The Governor, accompanied by Mayor Agapito Magana Sanchez and the State Secretary of Health, toured the  new hospital, which is scheduled to open this month.  Gov. Borge said the construction is 100% complete and the equipping is 90% finished, with an investment of 106 million pesos.
     The hospital will have 13 beds with areas of emergency, hospitalization, surgery, recovery,  consulting rooms,  discharge area? (area de expulsion), trauma area? (area de choque), hyperbaric chamber, area for sterilizations, and diagnostic equipment including digital Xray. It includes two machines for hemodialysis to treat patients with renal insufficiency, as well as oxygen outlets, special walls for the Xray area, and ultrasound and dental services.

Taxi hits scooter: Ankle injury not serious

     Motorcycle driver Yendy Yanelli Cen, 31, suffered an ankle injury when her scooter was struck in front of the ferry parking lot by taxi #22, driven by Jose Arturo Cocom. She was treated by Red Cross paramedics and taken to the General Hospital for Xrays to rule out other injuries. The two parties came to an agreement, and after her treatment she went to work at the tortilleria in the municipal mercado/market "Audomaro Magana" and he resumed his work driving taxi.
    On Monday the Traffic police launched an information campaign for foreign and local drivers about local traffic regulations. After this campaign, there will be a review of documents, to ensure that all drivers have them in order, according to the law.

Hundreds of Catholics have joined these processions, with estimates of about 400 participating on each of the first two nights, for a total of more than 800 Catholics. The number of people is expected to increase between now and Saturday, when the concluding Mass and the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of  Mary, which will be held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and the image will be returned to her niche. (This is commemorating the Assumption of Mary, into heaven following her death, whose date on the Catholic calendar is Saturday, August 15.)
     The Virgin has visited the chapels of Guadalupe and Caridad del Cobre whose doors stayed open all night for those who wanted to accompany the image and participate. On Thursday, the gathering is scheduled to take place in La Gloria at the intersection of Martinez Ross and Manuel Osorio, to walk up Martinez Ross to Lizeta street where the Mass will be held in front of the home of the Ancona Martinez family. On Friday, it is scheduled for the Mundaca park, with the Mass in colonia Guadalupana, at the house of Manuel Chulin.

    At the final part of the holiday vacation period, large numbers of people are moving thru the Maritime Terminal, and those in charge of security report a "saldo blanco" or lack of incidents, said the Director of Tourism, Gustavo Rodriguez Orozco, who also spkoe about the celebrations for the 165th anniversary of the founding of the town. This begins on Thursday, when a dozen restaurants will participate in a culinary event featuring fish dishes of "Tikin xic, including Picus, Muelle Siete, Sunset Grill, Mocambo, Ruster (sic, Rooster's), Lancheros, Brisas Grill, Cooperativa Isla Mujeres, Compadres and Pelayo.
