Historic certification with white flag at North Beach on Nov. 13th

La que tendrá lugar el próximo día 13, con bandera blanca en Playa Norte

Lanrry PARRA
ISLA MUJERES, 10 de noviembre.-
Everything is ready for the historic raising of the white flag over North Beach on Thursday, November 13 at 4pm. It will take place at the end of Hidalgo Street between the Chimbos palapa and the Leydi palapa. This certification is expected to be followed by the Blue Flag certification, and is the positive culmination of a large number of people, working with the mayor, Agapito Magana Sanchez.
It is remembered that on September 24 & 25 two auditors from the Mexican National Institute of Standardization and Certification conducted an assessment of compliance at North Beach with the Official regulations of Norma Oficial Mexicana NMX-AA-120-SCFI-2006. The result of the evaluation was positive, and on Thursday the White Flag certifying compliance of North Beach with the criteria will be delivered to Mayor Agapito by the General Director of the Mexican Institute of Standardiaztin and Certification, Viviana Fernández Camargo.
This is the first time in the history of the island that this certification has been obtained, and this beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, at one of the best tourist destinations in Mexico and in the world.
With the successful completion of this certification process, the current administration has embraced this initiative toward extending it to other beaches, and to maintain its commitment in future years for the benefit of the residents and visitors of Isla Mujeres.

Naviera reactiva servicio con sorpresiva y atractiva promoción

Lanrry PARRA
ISLA MUJERES, 10 de noviembre.-
On Monday morning the company Maritime Magana announced a surprise promotion offering round trip passage between Isla Mujeres and Puerto Juarez for only 35 pesos. The promotion comes simultaneously with the change of point of arrivals and departures by the Magana Ferry to the concrete pier used by the Ultramar ferry.
The announcement was made on a banner and indicates the only requirement is to show personal identification that proves residence on the island, such as a voter card, CURP, drivers license, or other photo identification. The promotion begins on Monday, and lasts until December 15th.
A company representative explained that the discount is only for residents who live on the island and does not include those who live in the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres on the mainland.  Prior to this discount, the cost of a round trip was 70pesos for islanders in general, including those on the mainland.
It is noted that the Magnana company had a three day suspension of service two weeks ago, and that there have been complaints against the Ultramar ferry about not selling senior citizens' tickets.

The Judicial Police have no clues about who is responsible for burning a motorcycle Saturday night around midnight in the colonia Caridad del Cobre. Although the neighbors intervened in a timely manner, little could be done to control the fire which spread quickly and consumed the entire motorcycle within minutes.
The owner of the 2011 Yamaha FZ (250cc), Felix Badillo Trejo, said he was unaware of who might be behind this terrible act of vandalism, saying he has no problems with anyone. It was determined that the fire was no accident, but was set on purpose, because beside the burnt remains un mechero was found that was used to quickly spread the flames
The police commander, Arturo Medina Parra, said the have no clues or suspicions so far about who was behind this, but there is an ongoing investigation.

Although the section of Rueda Medina Avenue that is being repaved was scheduled to be opened the first work in December, it has been announced that the opening will be delayed until January. On Monday, the Secretary General of the City Council, Cesar Poot Perez, met with residents of the area, which is near the runway, (on its western side). He explained that due to bad weather (con los malos tiempos) and because Aguakan is renovating the water and sewer service,  the opening of the road will be delayed. until January.  The secretary general was accompanied by Jose Pinzon Sarabia, manager of Aguakan.
The area under construction is ~one mile (~2km) long, from the vehicle ferry terminal to the naval hospital. A taxi driver commented that this work should have been started in September to avoid affecting the high season for tourism. Residents recall that the entire circuit of road was repaved by the state government after Hurricane Wilma in 2005, and a few months later Aguakan opened up the road on the eastern side.

Isla Animals campaign for the upcoming November Clinic-Spay-Neuter-Educate
Sally Margolis  on FB....
Hi everyone, I just posted a campaign for an Isla Animals November Spay/Neuter & Education clinic. The only way to make change is through education of pet owners and particularly education of the children-and spay/neuter campaigns. At the last big IA campaign 220 animals were spayed/neutered. There will be an education station at this clinic and Isla Animals is also set to go to the schools. Please continue to support an organization that has made great strides with 15 years of steady service to the island. And please, please help us share this campaign! Thank you!
