ISLA MUJERES, 9 de mayo.-
The 29th edition of the Regatta al Sol will begin Wednesday, May 11, when sailboats depart from New Orleans for Pensacola, with Isla Mujeres as the final destination. Organizer Enrique Lima Zuna explained that this event takes place every two years, for nearly 60 years. There are 15 boats registered for this event, with most of the boats departing Wednesday, and the rest sailing on Thursday, following a captain's meeting at the Pensacola yacht club on Tuesday evening.
After the boats arrive in Isla Mujeres, there will be a Captain's Cup meeting at the Casa de las Rocas, the usual basketball game, the recognition of Distinguished Guests event, and other activities.

May 9     Due to winds from the east over 37 kph, port authorities in Quintana Roo, especially in the northern part of the state, advised small boats to be cautious, in accordance with the weather report from the SCT (Secretary of Communications and Transport). The Port of Isla Mujeres remained open for navigation by small boats, with very few of the boats going out to catch fish.
This weather is expected to abate with the passage of cold front #60, while #61 is making an appearance in the northern part of the country, and could advance into the Gulf of Mexico in the next few hours, according to the forecast from CONAGUA.
Today there was normal activity at sea, with tours in the Bay, to National Park at Isla Contoy, and diving and fishing activities.
