Sábado de turismo en las playas[+] Ver mas
There was a good influx of tourists to the island on Saturday, who were buying food, enjoying the beach, and taking nautical tours, as well as other touristic activities in the good weather. Tourism as improved since Wednesday, and the demand for boat tours doubled with some boats making two trips a day and carrying 10 to 15 passengers, depending on their capacity. A group of teachers were among the tourists, who said they were very pleased that they chose this destination for their vacation with its calm beautiful water and beaches, and its other attractions.

It appears that the authorities have given up the search for the fisherman who fell overboard a week and a half ago in the open seas, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, just before midnight from the shrimp boat "Marengo" which was hit by a wave from the passing storm "Karen". His father, Mario Zapata Silva, is holding a photo of the seaman know as "Soyita",  José Ernesto Zapata Cutz , whose wife and three children who are expecting to  receive compensation from the company. It is noted they are a poor family, who were dependent on his income as a fisherman.

Nice video  by Tony Garcia of turtles emerging from the sand

Nice video of the turtle release, showing the lil guys 'flying' away undersea. Info on caption is incorrect..The majority of turtle here are Greens, then many fewer loggerheads, and hawksbills are a small minority. Last year the last release was Oct. 7. They begin laying in May and the eggs take ~60 days to hatch. As of September, 60,000 had been released of the ~100,000 incubated/incubating. Video...By Stephanie Hammond de Boboli·

Daily Update: I’m posting this picture as a follow up to the video. This is from the same spay and neuter clinic last January and it’s how those puppies come in. This wonderful old man took these pups from his neighbor who was treating them poorly. He was so excited that we would take them, get then healthy and find them homes. He lived in the neighborhood where we set up the clinic and was obviously very poor. My point being that poverty and mistreatment of animals should never be partnered as a given. There are plenty of poor people who care. This man even stayed and helped out. This clinic stuff is coming up for me because we’re working on organizing three clinics right now; two in this same area of Cancun and one on Isla Mujeres. I love these clinics, it’s a chance to save animals, push the solution of spay and neuter and educate people. We ask people to stay and care for their animals as they wake up after surgery and we teach them to clean their dogs ears and cut their nails. It’s usually a brand new experience for both the dog and the owner. Thanks you Joan for your donation, every bit counts.

Cancer Breakfast..October 19th..Restaurant Due Torri..9:00am. For all of you old fogies that couldn't make the Pink Divas night, you missed a great show with 3 different female impersonators rocking the house with song and fun humor.
