work crew resumed work yesterday exchanging pipes for the potable water supply
to the residential area of Sac Bajo, which is due to be completed at the end of

Two
months after there was an announcement that a maritime ambulance would be delivered to Isla Mujeres within days, the state health secretary, Rafael
Delgado Alpuche, acknowledged there has been a delay by the supplier. They are working it out and expect that by February the municipality will have this important transport service.

Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA) will be renovating the storm drain covers in the colonias of Meteorológico and Salina; because the network of drain grates has deteriorated, creating hazards, said the Mayor. The amount of the investment has not been announced.

The 95 percent of listed businesses are "regularized" in Isla Mujeres, said Director of Municipal Audit, Manuel Serrano Magaña. This year 53 businesses were sanctioned, generating some 500,000 pesos in fines, which is an unprecedented amount. They have reviewed 95 percent of the 800 businesses. There will be zero tolerance of businesses open after hours or serving minors.

Por Carlos Gasca > Quequi .- The Director de Tourism announced we have made it past the "rough patch" “mala racha”. Occupancy began to improve on Dec. 27 when it was at 92 percent. It rose to 93 percent on theh 29th and the year closed with 96 percent occupancy. At the end of last year, occupancy was at 89 percent and dropped to 84 percent on the first of the year. As of yesterday, occupancy has remained at 95 percent. The tourism director said Isla Mujeres was suffering a serious economic crisis, and the truth is many have not yet reecovered from the difficult situation that followed the influenza crisis of 2008, but now things have improved.

The double homicide investigation continues
