The Hotel Izla was sanctioned by the municipal Department of the Environment & Ecology, for their failure to notify the municipal authorities prior to their actions of cleaning out three absorption wells, causing spillage of stagnant rainwater (which was not sewer water.). The Director of that municipal agency explained, "They were doing (absorption) well cleaning work, however, when it was mangrove water, it generated bad smell, but it was not about sewage water. The spill was controlled by hotel staff and they were informed that the next occasion they need to take actions like these, they must inform the City first or they will be fined again."
THE ′′YELLOW CAPS" CALL UPON THE POPULACE TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN THE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH AGAINST COVID-19
Volunteers of the social participation program are inviting the populace to follow hygiene measures issued by the health authorities & specialists.
In the face of the alarming increase in the number of infections of Covid-19 in Isla Mujeres, the group of ′′ Yellow Caps ", continues to be deployed at the various points considered as areas of high risk of contagion, in order to raise awareness about use correct of faces, frequent hand washing and other habits that need to be adopted, as a measure of containment of the disease.
In the last 24 hours alone, 7 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the municipality, so it is urgent that citizenry take responsibility for the aspect that belongs to them; taking care of themselves and taking care of others, which will avoid dramatic increases in infections, and therefore avoid returning to red on the state epidemiological light.
Volunteers from the Social Participation Liaison program ′′Yellow Caps", invite the general population to take hygiene measures seriously, but mainly, they recommend staying at home if it is not necessary to go into the streets.
The DIF social service agency is supporting the families who are most affected by Covid-19 with the "Exchange & Donate for the Cause" program which consists of exchanging, with the DIF, deibles such as rice, beans, tuna, cereal, milk, and crackers/cookies for products such as towels, blenders, and 'toppers', and later pantries will be put together to be delivered to families who have been affected by the coronavirus health situation. The program takes place at the DIF facilities in La Gloria on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10a to 3p, or people who want to make a donation can contact the DIF.
The DIF Director, Yuseli Lopez Tec, said ′′We have already implemented several programs that are looking to support those who need it most, to the most vulnerable sectors, with the support of all citizenship we have been able to reach a large number of beneficiaries both on the island and in the Continental Zone, and we invite you to keep approaching the DIF to extend these 'bridges' of help."
She concluded by saying, "We are open to continue supporting citizenship, and as a government we seek ways to make this possible, however thanks to the goodwill and good hearts of the islanders, we have reached many families that are truly in need, and all of them really thank you very much."

Swimming with the whale sharks takes place in July, which ends annually in mid-September. They congregate and feed on a 'buffet' of plankton and fish eggs from a type of tuna. Rays are also attracted to the feeding areas. Photo by Tony Garcia
