The Civil Protection Department will be monitoring the beaches and the buoy line to ensure the safety of swimmers and visitors in general. The buoy line was repaired after it was broken recently. Sometime visitors hang onto the buoy line and some boats tie to the line, which can cause damage, and the lifeguards try to prevent this. Officials are planning to relocate the buoy line farther out, since the beach has grown in one section, which was previously eroded. They will also be reviewing the entire buoy line. Thousands of visitors are expected to visit the beaches daily during the summer holiday season.

July 10 So far this turtle nesting season, as of this weekend, 372 nests have been rescued and are incubating at the Tortugranja facility. Last year a total of 508 nests were protected, from the three species which lay on the beaches of Isla Mujeres, loggerheads, hawksbills, and greens. Hundreds of tourists visit the Tortugranja facility daily and can view the nests, and the first hatchlings have hatched. There are young turtles on temporary exhibition, in order to raise awareness about their conservation and protection.
Regarding observing the female turtles who are nesting on the beaches facing the Caribbean sea, the head of the Tortugranja, Deline Garcia Canto, said to never bother them, do not take photos using the flash, and do not let pets approach them because they will be frightened and return to the sea.
Most of the eggs are being collected at the beach by the "hanger by the airfield" and near colonia Guadalupania. Volunteers and Tortugranja staff monitor the beaches nightly. In the past, there have been two season when more than a thousand nests were protected, and more than 150,000 baby turtles were released. The park rangers at Isla Contoy also release sea turtles, and also at the Isla Blanca beach.
