Clean beaches & streets
To maintain the good image of Isla Mujeres, by order of the municipal president, work has been increased among the municipal agencies to ensure clean beaches and streets during this holiday season
With the boom of the summer tourist season, the municipal government headed by the president of Isla Mujeres, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, is continually working to keep the beaches and streets of this vacation destination clean and in optimal conditions for the enjoyment of visitors.
"Isla Mujeres is a world class destination and we, the community and the government, must work to ensure that tourists get the best image when they visit us; tourism is one of the main economic pillars of our municipality and benefits thousands of island families," said the mayor.
Since the beginning of the holiday season, the mayor has given instructions to redouble efforts to keep the destination clean, so he works in a coordinated manner with  ZOFEMAT, (Federal Maritime Zone), Public Safety and Municipal Transit, Public Services, and Civil Protection and the Firefighters so that the tourists enjoy a safe vacation and take away the best image of Isla Mujeres.
It is noted that Playa Centro and Playa Norte have been awarded the Blue Flag and White Flag designations, respectively, which are delivered to destinations that meet certain standards of cleanliness and quality of its beaches, which is why the mayor emphasized that ZOFEMAT staff work diligently on the maintenance of the cleanliness of the sand and the removal of seaweed.
The Mayor noted that with the increased number of visitors, there is a 30% increase in the amount of trash that is generated, and therefor an extra trash collection crew was activated. With these actions, the municipal president reaffirms his commitment to keep Isla Mujeres as a world-class destination, characterized by the quality of its services, its clean beaches and the good image that is portrayed to visitors.

Improved animal hospital in Isla Mujeres
Gran hospital de animales de Isla Mujeres [+] Ver masFull article at this link
A few days ago the veterinary hospital of Delfino Guevara received new equipment for blood analysis, in addition to the X-ray equipment they acquired last year. Now they can provide blood analysis results in a matter of minutes, rather than waiting a day for the results. The hospital, "Veterinary Clinic of Isla Mujeres AC", located in colonia Salina Chica, on Jesus Martínez Ross Avenue, is a non-profit institution. It receives funding from foreigners and Mexicans committed to care for stray animals and pets in general .      Its purpose is to become self-financing and it should soon achieve that goal, after nearly two decades of professional effort with its team of volunteers.
Dr. Delfino said, "Every citizen with pets must take full responsibility for their health." He has carried out massive campaigns of sterilization since he arrived in 2000. On the hospital website it says they are very focused on the human and ethical control of the population of stray animals through free sterilization programs.

This weekend, Jose HCR, 63, a construction worker from Tabasco, was detained in a routine review by police, and he taken into custody when it was discovered on the Platforma Mexico that he was a fugitive with an arrest warrant for homicide . He was transferred to the deputy prosecutor's office for the Northern Zone of Quintana Roo. This is an example of good coordination between authorities in the three levels of government to ensure the security of the citizens in the field of preventing and fighting crime.

The two main beaches were busy and sales were good in the downtown area and the beach areas. The Tortugranja had many children and families visiting to view the marine life at different levels of development in the aquarium, as well as the turtle conservation program that has been carried out at the facility for more than half a century.
Punta Sur was filled with golf carts and tourists enjoying the majestic panorama of the Mexican Caribbean from 15 meters above the sea. All 700 golf carts were on the streets, with the 200 taxi cabs, which were insufficient to serve the local users, who often become angry during high seasons of tourism and want buses for urban transportation.
