In the Maritime Terminal, the store selling watches and another store were closed this afternoon for not issuing fracturas. (A fractura is similar to a regular receipt, but more official.) The closure notices say the suspensions are for not complying with tax requirements to have electronic fracturas available for their customers, and have the logos of SAT (Tax Administration System) and SHCP (Ministry of Finance and Public Credit).

The initiative of Citizen Forums was begun on November 10, to improve the Governmental Plan with proposals from the people, in compliance with the Mayor's commitment to work closely with all sectors of the community. This is done within the guiding principles framing the new governmental plan:
  •  Isla Mujeres para Todos,  For All
  • Isla Mujeres de Buen Gobierno,  Good Government
  •  Isla Mujeres Firme,   Committed
  • Isla Mujeres con Bienestar Económico,  Economic Welfare
  • Isla Mujeres con Calidad de Vida, Quality of Life
  •  Isla Mujeres Ordenado y  Responsable con el Medio Ambiente. Orderly and Environmentally Responsible
The Mayor said, "In the task of governing, which is not a matter for one but for all, we are taking into account the opinion of the citizens. Everyone can be an agent of change, from their field of experience, contributing to build and enrich our governmental plan so that it reflect the hearts, minds, and voices of Isla Mujeres."
For this purpose, the Mayor is personally attending the forums to engage in direct dialogues with the citizens. His message has always been about the community and the government working together in shaping strategies for the consolidation of works, services, and actions that address the most urgent needs of the community.  He said, "Ours is a government for all, because we aspire to be a municipality where our families develop and our children grow up happy, building a future together."
For their part, citizens, have come out and are participating in these events, responding to each of the  issues that require attention in terms of services, public safety, tourism, economic development, improvement of quality of life, and environmental responsibility, among other topics.

Eduardo Peniche Rodríguez "Wato" has been leader of the Taxi Union of Isla Mujeres for twelve years, and his opponents held a press conference, saying he has violated the bylaws of the organization. They say he has violated Article 26 of the union bylaws which only allow for a maximum for two reelections within nine as leader. There was an unsuccessful challenge with the JLCA (Local Board of Conciliation and Arbitration) in 2014, which was decided in favor of Wato, but now with the new government in office his opponents want the agency to rule against him.
