- One of the main commitments of Mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis is to provide island families with quality public spaces. For this reason, since the beginning of his administration he has been coordinating with the Director of Public Works, César Poot Pérez, to supervise the work being carried out in the parks "Las Hormiguitas Obreras" and "Las Iguanas" in an ongoing and direct manner..He said these two works should be completed by mid December.
The Mayor said the construction of public bathrooms in the park "Las Hormiguitas Obreras" and the building of the palapa in "Las Iguanas", will provide families with areas that are in optimal condition, where they can enjoy healthy recreation together. He said the work is being constantly supervised to ensure that it meets the highest quality standards and that the agreements in the contracts are being fulfilled. A tour of the works was made by the Director of Public Works and personnel with the municipal Comptrollers office.
The Mayor spoke about the importance of these public spaces to the neighborhood and for family lifestyles, where new friendships are formed. He said that throughout his administration he will continue to work for the rehabilitation of these areas for the benefit of the residents. This reaffirms his commitment to making this a municipality which meets the needs of families, and above that provides quality services for both the island and the Continental Zone.

The City Council established a Committee to oversee compliance with the judicial orders regarding the 1715 Letters of Assignment for residential and commercial lots, for full coordination with the state government to resolve a housing problem in Isla Mujeres.
Three days earlier, an agreement was signed with SEUDVI (State Department of Housing and Urban Development) who are taking direct responsibility for the urbanization of some 40 hectares, out of a total of 200 hectares of municipal land which was donated to the former agency INFOVIR (Institute for the Development of Housing and Regularization of Property) in 2007 to address this obligation.
The Letters of Assignment were issued by former Mayor Pauline Adame Torres (eleven years ago for lots in an urban area being developed in mainland Isla Mujeres.).
Mayor Juan Carrillo said that this process may take a long time, and they have begun to seek a solution to this issue that has concerned many families. The City will receive the documents and participate in the demarcation of the area to be developed and facilitate procedures with SEDUVI.  .
