TVIsla Mujeres - Roban otra embarcación a pescador de Isla Mujeres
Oct 22 The 25 foot "lanchero" boat of Reinaldo Garrado Arguelles was stolen, which has an old 60HP motor. When he went to the beach by the Whale Shark malecon at six in the morning, he discovered it had been stolen. They searched around the coasts of Isla Mujeres, Punta Sam, and Isla Blanca, but as of Saturday afternoon, it had not been found. Because he has been busy searching for the boat, with the help of other fishermen, he has not had time to file a complaint. There have been other robberies where thieves have taken the "colas" or transmissions of the boats. Some weeks ago, a sailboat saw thieves about to rob another boat at this location, but when they were discovered, the escaped aboard a boat.

Opening up the possibility of Uber in  Quintana Roo  Full article at this link.
TVIsla Mujeres Abierta la posibilidad de Uber en Quintana Roo
Although Alejandro Ramos said that Uber does not have the option of operating in Quintana Roo, Jorge Portilla, Secretary of SINTRA, has opened up the possibility that the transportation law could be reformed. The state official said the law would have to be reformed, and he did not confirm openly that this would open the door officially to Uber. He said it would be necessary to make changes. What he would say was that Uber would not be able to operate without a concession.
In recent days, he has received not only taxi drivers who are concerned, but also uber managers, clarifying that this government will be open and serve all equally. "But we are not in favor of illegality. The issue is still heated and although several uber vehicles have been punished, they continue to offer their services in the state. The last incident occurred a few days ago on the mainland of Isla Mujeres where an Uber vehicle was practically surrounded by Isla Mujeres taxis.

Following the increased outbreak of Zika, with an increase of 25% announced earlier this month, parents joined the clean up at the schools. On Saturday, parents and teachers cleaned at the preschool-kindergarten "Maria Enriqueta Camarillo y Roa", and two days before they cleaned at CENDI (daycare). This also occurred at other schools of the island. The state health authorities have asked all citizens to join the ongoing clean up campaigns to prevent Zika and other mosquito borne diseases by keeping their yards and patios clean of containers where water can gather.
The Director of Public Services, Jose Rios, announced that they are committed to respond to phone calls from people who want trash and junk removed like old mattresses and household items. Then they won't be "on display" on the street and negatively affect the image of this destination.

The two clean up campaigns,  Jornada Ciudadana and  la Brigada de Limpieza, removed 22 tons of trash and junk, pruned 1500 square meters. and responded to more than 40 citizen requests for repair of lights, and painting of curbs and sidewalks. Also 210 tons of waste were removed from the Trash Transfer Facility, and more will be removed when the larger ferry returns from having maintenance work done in Ciudad del Carmen. They plan to use it exclusively to move several vehicles full of trash, because the Facility has more than a thousand tons of trash, which presents a bad image.
