Updating the streetlights on Juarez Avenue
Rehabilitan luminarias en la avenida Juárez [+] Ver mas
The new Director of Public Service, Jose Rios, said that ~30 percent of the Island's public lighting system is in poor condition, and the problem is more complicated on the mainland, but the renovation has begun along all of Juarez Avenue, which is 1500 meters. He said his department has inherited a serious problem of equipment in poor condition, and their vehicle is falling apart from rust and lack of maintenance. It is noted that the bases of the old lights along the malecon are obstacles for walkers, in this popular area. Juan Carrillo has said he is committed to improving lighting on the island and on the island, in a manner that is efficient and eco-friendly.
It is known that this may not be resolved before the end of the year because most of the solutions require a large investment, whose resources would be assigned in 2017.

It is noted that the previous administration left this area in need of renovation and that the new Mayor, Juan Carrillo Soberanis has made a commitment to upgrade the entire public lighting system in the upcoming year. This is expected in the next fiscal year, according to the head of Public Services, Jose Rios. Residents along the malecon would also like more police surveillance.

The 9th annual Diabetes Clinic will be November 3rd in La Gloria. We are a team of nurses, social workers, EMT's and paramedics with a doctor for consultation of patients who need to be seen immediately. Please consider donating $50 which would buy 200 test strips, enough for one patient for a year. We also need donations of reading glasses, particularly the higher numbers. Many diabetics have vision problems too. We have a drop off location at Marina Paraiso Hotel or will pick up wherever you are!
