Leer más..Photo & full article at this link.    To participate in winning the Guinness Award for the longest simultaneous cleaning of beaches, a large beach clean up was held on Saturday, which was also part of the 15th anniversary of AMResorts. Approximately 150 kilos of trash were put into 30 large black trash bags, and there were 4 buckets of glass.
The event took place behind the new skate park, and by the Caribbean Sea across from the gas station. Those who participated include staff from Zoetry Villa Rolandi, the Dive Life dive shop, and the Cooperativa de Artesanías de Mujeres de Isla Mujeres (I think that is the women's group aka The Bead Coop).
In addition to participating in the Guinness Award for longest simultaneous beach cleaning, the goal of this event is to raise awareness about keeping the beaches clean, preventing pollution of the sea, and looking after wildlife and the environment by separating trash.

It has been six months since the disappearance of the boat "Anastasia" and her five crew members. The lawyer for the families plans to go to Mexico City next week to meet with the head of the National Human Rights Commission, to seek information about any progress in their investigation.
She also plans to meet with the Procuraduria General of the Republic, (PGR) to see about the case with their office of Missing Persons. That investigation is being handled by the Cancun branch, and not at the central office in Mexico City.
The lawyer, Natalia Paola de la O, said although there is not much to say about the progress in the past months, the case remains open, with the PGR maintaining 6 lines of investigation. For reasons of security, no more details have been given.
It is unclear what happened to the five fishermen, who continue to be considered as missing, since no bodies have been found. She said when the PGR offers more information, clearly and precisely, she will promptly communicate with the press.

Unhappy about capacity of vehicle ferry
Inconforma la poca capacidad del transbordador.. [+] Ver masPhoto &full article at this link
It has been about three weeks since the temporary departure of the larger of the two vehicle ferries which serve the route between Isla Mujeres and Punta Sam. In the second week of September, the ferry "Isla Blanca" went to Ciudad del Carmen for general maintenance and was expected to return within a month, unless there are problems.
The ferry in service, Sergio Aguilar Gracia, has a smaller capacity, and trucks with high boxes must remove some air from their tires to reduce their height by a few centimeters. There have been complaints about the inconvenience this ferry is causing, including comments by architect Sabina Herrera Castillo, who is involved with construction activities. She also complained about delays of more than 30 minutes and the lack of trained personnel to arrange the vehicles, at times.
    The schedule is as follows:
  Departures from Isla Mujeres on Monday thru Saturday are:  5:00, 7:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00 & 19:00. Departures from Punta Sam 6:00, 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 & 20:00  On Sunday it departs the isle 8:00, 10:00, 16:00 & 19:00; and departs Punta Sam at 9:15, 11:15, 17:15 & 20:15.

The 9th annual Diabetes Clinic will be November 3rd in La Gloria. We are a team of nurses, social workers, EMT's and paramedics with a doctor for consultation of patients who need to be seen immediately. Please consider donating $50 which would buy 200 test strips, enough for one patient for a year. We also need donations of reading glasses, particularly the higher numbers. Many diabetics have vision problems too. We have a drop off location at Marina Paraiso Hotel or will pick up wherever you are!
