For better living conditions: Agapito participates in the historic first session of CDIQRoo

Agapito Magana participates in historic first session of the Council for Island Development in Quintana Roo (CDIQRoo)
.-
The meeting took place this weekend in Cozumel, with Gov. Borge as the guest of honor. The CDIQROO is an intergovernmental body, for planning management and for the collaboration for the generating of public policies in matters affecting the islands of the state.Accompanied by his colleagues, Freddy Marrufo, Mayor of Cozumel and host of important meeting, and Luciano Cima, mayor of Lázaro Cárdenas municipality where Holbox Island is located, the mayor of Isla Mujeres, Agapito Magana, participated and they signed the Declaration of the Island Regions of the State of Quintana Roo.
Quintana Roo has island regions (Cozumel, Holbox and Isla Mujeres) with individual and unique features nationally and even within Latin America. Some of these special characteristics are: In the case of Isla Mujeres and Cozumel, they are both islands and villages at the same time, and their governments compete directly, not with state governments, but with countries (Caribbean Islands) that have broad margins of economic and fiscal management, marketing, etc.
Another feature of the Quintana Roo islands, that while there is tourist potential is of national importance, their significant population development is constrained by factors including environmental restrictions (protected environmental reserves), high production costs, and limited connectivity, among others.  A detail that can not be lost sight of is that their ecosystems are very high vulnerable and are subject to the effects of climate change.
The formation of the Council for Island Development in the State of Quintana Roo  is of great and transcendent importance, because for the first time in history, the municipal governments of the island regions of Quintana Roo established a joint working group to identify their main needs, challenges, areas of opportunity, and aspirations, in order to determine a common and coordinated agenda.
Isla Mujeres mayor Agapito Magana said,  "Today I am here to represent all children, women and men and all of  the families of my home island.  I'm here to give my best and achieve better living conditions for each of them."

Excellent Sunday at the beaches
Excelente domingo playero[+] Ver mas
Many tourists and locals enjoyed outdoor activities in the pleasant weather on Sunday, and the beaches were popular. Some vendors were noted, although they are not officially allowed on the beaches. Some yachts were noted inside the buoys that have been placed to protect the swimmers.
There were many tour boats visiting, often  docking at the piers to allow shoppers to visit the stores. The golf cart rental agencies were also doing well from tourists visiting for the day.

Embarrassing spectacle by Mexican family
Bochornoso espectáculo de mexicanos[+] Ver mas
According to gathered information, on Friday afternoon a group of seven tourists from Mexico City were eating at the restaurant Velazquez, and among them was a minor who began to argue with a restaurant employees and then to hit that person, resulting in a small brawl that required the presence of the police. Before the police arrived, the visitors left (se retiraron), and were stopped in the street by those who were aggrieved (fueron interceptados en la vía pública por los agraviados), and words were exchanged, and then blows. According to witnesses one of the blows struck the minor, who was allegedly being used as a shield by one of the brawlers. When the municipal police arrived, the tourists (of this group) were in the fracas,  including a woman who is a senior citizen.
As a result of the punches thrown by the angry chilangos (people from Mexico City), they were taken into custody by the police and made available to the prosecutor ( Ministerio Público del Fuero Común) for crimes of ultrajes (literally "outrages") against authority and for any damages.
While conducting routine screening, the police found a bag with residues of marijuana on the older woman (la abuela..the grandmother), while medical certifications showed all of the family was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana (la hierba de la risa..literally the laughing herb).

Bad Luck
Fish production is good, but demand is low, say members of the fishing cooperatives, who say due to ths they have no choice but to sell to vendors and even to the neighboring town of Progress, where it the fish are resold for higher prices.
