A young person crashed an SUV "Ecosport" into the wall of the "Cesar Mendoz Santana" primary school, allegedly while inebriated, abandoning the vehicle and leaving the scene. The accident occurred at 6pm on Sunday, when "Lizandro U." was driving from north to south and lost control of the vehicle, which hit the wall of the school. The municipal traffic police came to the scene and collected information, but in the end no charges were made against the young person... ya que sus padres no lograron ponerse de acuerdo con las autoridades del plantel educativo para la reparación de los daños ocasionados a la barda del colegio. (that says..his parents didn't agree with school authorities to repair the wall, which may be a typo?)

This campaign at the Red Cross facility, which began on Monday morning, is intended to help people with vision problems, as well as people with eye diseases. It will continue until Friday, March 4 during the hours of 10am to 3pm and 4pm to 7pm.
The specialist from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Ivan Medina Solis, said they expect to see about 30-35 people daily and to help 150-175 people during the five day campaign. For those with vision problems, there are glasses available from 700 pesos, depending on the problems and needs of each patient.

The Ultramar Ferry company is increasing its service between Isla Mujeres and two points in the Cancun Hotel Zone, beginning on Friday. The departures from Playa Tortugas will increase from eight to 12 crossings daily, and the departures from el Embarcadero are increasing from six to nine crossings per day.
Previously, the last departures from Isla Mujeres to the Hotel Zone were at 5:15pm and 5:30pm daily, but now they will depart at 9:15pm, allowing the tourists to spend four more hours in Isla Mujeres. Company executive, Luis Arevalo, explained the changes and said Ultramar plans to invest in promotion, directed toward tourists staying in the Hotel Zone, and they plan to hire more staff and provide more employment.

This is the first of three sets of samples that will be taken this year. On July 10th, 2015, the City signed an agreement with the Universidad del Caribe to identify the causes of contamination in Salina Grande lake. On August 18th, the students from different specialties, with assistance from the City, conducted an information gathering campaign among the residents. This was part of the diagnosis stage, to identify social, economic, and environmental factors and practices.
The researchers are being assisted by staff and directors from the municipal Ecology department and ZOFEMAT (Federal Zone agency).

Dolphin Discovery celebrates 100th birth in Quintana Roo
The birth occurred at a Dolphin Discovery facility in December, 2015, and there will be a press conference on March 8th, which will announce details about participating to win a trip to one of the 22 dolphin facilities. This program of reproduction is called "Miracle", and has resulted in successful births for first and second generations. It takes place at 5 locations: Costa Maya, Puerto Aventuras, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and Akumel.
